Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Not a fan of it by any means, but it shit down ~11 days ago and no one mentioned it.

Every link to something on the instance redirects to this: https://imgur.com/XpxDJTg

Since lemmy posts are links, every image post is now that image.

The admin (local account on lemm.ee https://lemm.ee/u/[email protected] ) said it was because of the harassment culture on lemmy (https://lemm.ee/post/64686772 ), and blamed sunshine and beaver for doing something? (https://lemm.ee/post/63664605/20610349 -- the post this is in reply to is gone, but the comment is in the local copy of the person's profile.)

Anyone know what happened?

Admin always wanted it to be a small instance for friends, he was pushed into federating by sunshine, who is beaver and several others as well by my understanding. Then the political situation in the US continued deteriorating, and between the risks, the stalking, and all the general harassment that comes from operating a public vegan community he saw no benefits to keeping it up and shut it down.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Really? because I saw them mention they made it because of hexbear.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

I was banned from Hexbear in 2021 before federation.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

As far as I'm aware he didn't initially want to federate with others, yeah.

[–] jerkface 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Can you please elaborate on, "by my understanding"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I know beaver is one of her alts, but I can't be certain on any others.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Beaver, subshine, aqua, and others are all the same person.

She moderated [email protected] for a while with myself and others. She caused endless drama and became increasingly derranged. After we lost interest in light of the lemmy.world admins anti vegan and antiscientific stance and handed over the community she kept an alt with mod powers. She then used the powers weeks later to cause problems for the new mod.

On vtc she became increasingly derranged and harassy. Appears fixated on Hamid, and constantly posts shit to those dumb harassment/drama communities. Like every little thing Hamid said. It was dumb as fuck, I don't agree with Hamid on some things but he was just running a chill instance for vegans to enjoy each other's company.

Thank you for your input

After we lost interest in light of the lemmy.world admins anti vegan and antiscientific stance

What exactly are you talking about? Not that cat food thing, right?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The admin banned a user who was calmly linking scientific papers and giving gentle explanations to a user belligerently claiming it was impossible yes.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A simple “yes” would have been enough. But thanks. Your answer shows me who the crazy people are in this whole thing.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

The admin literally admitted he did the wrong thing, you just want to hate vegans.

I've seen reciepts. I'm sorry I dont have a dossier precompiled.

[–] jerkface 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Unless that's evasive sarcasm, I don't know what it means.

Sunshine has an actual identity off of Lemmy. I don't know them, but I've seen them elsewhere. They are by appearance a real person. Perhaps you know otherwise.

The only thing that connects Sunshine to Beaver that I know about is that one started posting (with an entirely different editorial voice) shortly after the other was harassed off the site. Perhaps you know better.

But if you don't know otherwise and you don't know better, I think you're talking bullshit.

Signed: someone previously accused of being a Beaver alt, and de-modded and banned on that lie. Don't worry, they figured it out. Figure it out.

Admin always wanted it to be a small instance for friends, he was pushed into federating by sunshine

What the fuck are you talking about? When did this happen, do you have a link? This is bonkers.

sunshine, who is beaver and several others as well

What others?

I sort of hesitate to feed into made-up-from-whole-cloth Lemmy drama, which this definitely seems to be, but I'm giving you enough benefit of the doubt to at least ask for reasons for why you're saying this stuff.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

This is true, it used to be a small whitelisted server. When Beaver/Sunshine/Ralimba and her compatriots caused a problem on lemmy.world I let them use my community. Sunshine then took it upon themselves to grow the instance and I regret allowing this. They set up a project in github, reached out to many admins to get endorsements in fediseer and spammed the fuck out of the communities with low effort blog posts. I wish this never happened, I will continue to set up a server for my friends. It will not be activity pub or federated with lemmy going forward.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I've talked to hamid outside of lemmy. I'm just sharing what happened as best as I can recall from a perspective that's not Sunshine's, since she's already all over this thread and she was a factor in him deciding to shut it down.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Why do you think Sunshine and Beaver are the same person?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I didn't save them so I can't recall specifics, but I've seen receipts. Sorry my info is kinda spotty, since I did ECT my memory isn't the best.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

What a perfectly normal and convincing answer lol

[–] Sunshine 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They’re not really engaging in good faith here…

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

I feel silly even asking this, but you didn't by any chance "push" Hamid into federating when he just wanted it to be a non federated server, did you?

You know what, forget I asked. I feel like I already know the answer to that question and toomanypancakes is just riding their own little dialectical go-kart, for their own ineffable reasons.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I don't know what you want from me? Sorry I got treatment for depression? Believe me or don't, I don't really care, but that's why he closed the server if you're curious.

[–] mp3 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I was under the impression that he passed along the administration to the server to someone else, I guess he kept the keys to the server after all.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

The admin I turned it over to ghosted and I still owned the domain.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

In most of the world as it should be, the process is:

  • Someone makes accusations against another person
  • Someone else asks why, backing behind the accusations
  • There is a response indicating the "why" because that's a sensible thing to ask

In toomanypancakes-world, apparently, it is:

  • Someone makes accusations against another person
  • How dare you I know I saw receipts but I can't find them right now anyway I'm disabled so it's not fair for you to ask that kind of thing but I'm certain that these outlandish accusations I am making are accurate

I'm not asking you to apologize for seeking treatment. I'm asking you to back up the accusations you made. That's a fair thing to ask you to do, and sidestepping into whining about how I'm oppressing your issues because I am asking for it is bullshit.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 6 days ago

Okay, have fun.

[–] Sunshine 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

VTC was always federated with the other servers.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

I had a whitelist of a small amount of servers and you pushed me to grow the server, get listed with the fucking apps, and reached out to all the people on fediseer of your own volition. I regret allowing this. I just want you to leave me alone. Delete the screenshots, do not post about me
