That was my experience as a community-founder on Lemm.ee -- that I 'owned' the community, and that it was necessary for me to transfer ownership for that to change. Also, IIRC the owner has a couple more permissions on Lemmy than the other mods.
@[email protected], I'd suggest you could test this out by creating another acct here, assign it mod status, then compare permissions.
I am not even sure if I have senior mod status in the the community I moderate/curate/
If you're the founder of a community that runs Lemmy, then you should be automatically senior mod. If you're not sure, and as mentioned above, you could add a dummy mod acct.
