It is not uncommon for defense attorneys to meet with federal prosecutors prior to them seeking an indictment, in the hopes of convincing them not to bring charges against their client.

Citing the doctrine of "C'mon, dude, I said I was sorry."

Edit: Also Trump: "I'M NOT SORRY AND I'LL FUCKIN DO IT AGAIN AND SOME BRAVE PATRIOT NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO YOUR LOVELY FAMILY"

Will be wild, what’s going to happen to your family!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

*( True, as long as your family is attempting a coup, like his family.)

40 of 'em in one tiny car.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are there really 40 lawyers left that will work for him?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Maybe this set are real lawyers instead of blatant lieyers.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago (2 children)

We will do a megathread for the next indictment if it happens today or tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

After that, though, fuck it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I didn't know you could do megathreads, Lemmy is growing up. 😥

We almost have all the same tools we had at reddit now.

He found lawyers? Last time I checked on him nobody wanted to work for him, because he didn’t pay and was hard to work with and dragged all his former lawyers into the dirt and he is, you know, guilty af.

How many of them will quit mid-meeting?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

Hope they got paid upfront!

Round 2, *** ding ***

These charges will be in Washington DC.

In DC, the rules are for a speedy trial, no courtroom cameras and they highly frown on Trump type bad-mouthing of judges and prosecutors in the media.

The coup monger will finally be held accountable!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

As much as I want this to be true, I’ll believe it when I see it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do these lawyers have TV commercials with phone numbers that are just a single digit repeated seven times?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I believe the number to the firm is 877-CASH-NOW

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Has there been a more successful ad campaign for something you'll likely never use? The songs from these commercials were stuck in my head just about a week ago.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm frequently amazed that Trump still has lawyers.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

At this point I assume it’s just a rotating door tag team system. Lawyers come in, make some money and then yeah out to the next. Although this all hinges on trump paying invoices which is sus at best

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

But Trump doesn't pay his lawyers...

I would thoroughly enjoy it if someone/anyone would play that the next time the orange kumquat is filmed walking. I mean what a gif that would make!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can't wait to see what Trump ~~tweets~~ ~~Xes~~ truths[?] about this?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

A paradox: It is correct that posts on the Orange One's social media are called "truths". At the same time, to call anything the Orange One posts "truths" is incorrect.

Hmm... 🤔

ETA (It's more an oxymoron, but you get the idea.)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

A "paradoxymoron" if you will, emphasis on the moron.
