Very hard counselling session today, still glad we're going but it was very difficult. We're both giving each other some space in the house, and I've been listening to Radiohead all afternoon ...sad and confused relationships are hard face

They are. Hang in there. Love myself some Radiohead, but maybe ease in to something slightly more upbeat or uplifting.

Was invited to go see a band tonight, but cash is non existent. Soon...

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Morning all.
Friend I haven't seen since - geez, since before Mum died - is coming down for a catch-up and to see the new place (and meet the cats).
~~House~~ unit is a bit messy, so I'm trying to motivate myself to get out of bed and start cleaning. A difficult task when Sammi's snuggled into my side.

Dammit. One of my washing gloves has a massive gash. :(

No backups either. One handed washing itโ€™ll be for now.

Make sure you stand on the opposite leg, for balance.

Went to Crown Gold Class tonight to watch Deadpool & Wolverine.

Jfc, the food there has always been overpriced "shitty cinema food", but now it's absolutely revolting. I had to spit out my first and only bite of the cheese burger, and my partner couldn't eat her margarita pizza as it was more salty than the heavily salted popcorn. Also why did they take nachos off the menu, something it would take a buffoon to fuck up?

[โ€“] dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

It's pretty hard to fuck up a cheeseburger.

[โ€“] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'm going on Sunday because a friend has free gold pass tickets that are about to expire. Is there free popcorn or do you have to buy it??

[โ€“] indisin@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You get unlimited "free" popcorn if you order/share 5 items from the food menu which costs $110, otherwise you have to buy popcorn separately

[โ€“] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)
[โ€“] indisin@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Nobody is gonna say shit if you buy a bag from Woolies or Coles with a paper bowl, but you'll probs only be saving yourself $5-$7.

Hope you enjoy the film and have a nice time!

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I've not been to the one at crown or to gold class, but I've literally never had anyone at any theatre (I've been to most of the majors) care about smuggling in some stuff from Coles. Granted I don't just walk in holding a packet of chips, I usually just have a small pack of something and a drink stuffed in my pockets, but as long as you aren't obvious about it they're unlikely to care. Plus the entirety of Hoyts seems to be staffed by like 2 people who always seem horribly burnt out and give absolutely zero shits

Some days a surface level clean wonโ€™t do and today was one of days. Love the feeling of a freshly cleaned house, but none of the steps to achieve it.

Rewarding myself with a cheesy pasta bake and beer.

Tonight you are permitted to sleepwalk down to Tassie, however you're only approved to enter Tasmania under the condition you wear a cold suit and do not bring back any coldness with you. Peruvian restaurant has been tried (excellent) and friend has decided to head straight to Brunswick to hopefully avoid the worst of the traffic.
Now snuggling with Sammi while Zooki bops around on the newly vacuumed floor.

more boring long tales of adventures in the domestic arts

Some more steps in restoring a pair of antique chairs. Here I have started to strip the old chair seat off, , exposing the springs. I took all of it off, the cover and padding, took out all the tacks, then removed the base and springs. Then I reversed it. Put a new base liner on then sewed the springs back on, then wove new supporting webbing and stapled it on . Put the original kapok padding back on, then a new padding liner, then the tapestry cover. Lastly I will put on a strong fabric liner over the webbing and springs. Nearly done!

That's it, tonight is pizza night... No energy for much else... couldn't get myself out of bed/couch let alone the house. Had a bit of a think through finances today, and it's been sobering to look at the budget I need to set so I can go down to 4 days a week while also reaching savings goals. But I think I can allow myself a pizza tonight, at least.

[โ€“] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago (3 children)

Family of four pizza night last week was $107....๐Ÿ˜ณ

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

So hard to wrap my head around. Meanwhile in Singapore, every coffee related drink is an average of $10. Even in SGD, that is $8, which is wild. But even Melbourne coffee is pushing up over $6. (I guess when it comes to commercial rent I can understand why.)

I sometimes wonder when Iโ€™ll one day just go, nope. I think itโ€™s because Iโ€™m not a big spender in other areas that I kind of justify the cost.

But pizzaโ€ฆ I love it, but rarely eat it anymore because even consistency is an issue. The fancy pants pizza is nice, but Iโ€™m still always hungry.

I'm feeling like a prison warden with all the keys I have now. I've got 7 keys on my main ring + 2 trolley tokens, a resus shield, and a little knicknack thing the old LT gave me from Indonesia. When I moved in, I was annoyed at having to carry 2 keys around with me

Carls Jr Review: Don't worry about it. It is similar to HJs, worse, but similar. I don't mind having gone, but I'm unlikely to go again. Oh and they stooged me with a half full large chips.

Took the kids to the Tram Museum today. It was a big hit, they just liked climbing up and down the trams. I liked it as someone who didn't grow up in Melbourne I got to learn a bit more about the history of the trams and the tram network.

I also learnt in a video that Melbourne has the largest tram network in the world at 250km of tramline. Whilst it's good to have that title, it doesn't sound like much. We could certainly do more to up those numbers.

Just finished watching Annie (the 2014 one). I really should've started it earlier. I liked it, a lot less sad than I was expecting. Apparently I'm in the minority though, so maybe I should go watch the original one
