Problem is mostly housing. When people earn 2000$/month and rent is 2000$/month, there's a problem. In great Montreal, pre-covid, you had 1bd appartment for 500$ sometimes less, now it's 1200+$
I don't know what will happen with this, and the hundreds of thousands new people coming each and every years need housing too, and schools, and healthcare. Of course millionnaires politicians don't give a shit.
Hold on, you can get an apartment in a major city for under $2000? Is the minimum wage in Quebec $10/hr? I don't live particularly close to any city and you'd be hard pressed to find anything more than a studio for $1500, you're looking at close to $2000 for something decent. I wonder how many months it would take to break even after moving costs from BCβ¦
Where's the general strike movement when you need one?
Considering how the last protest in Ottawa was broken up, I think we're past general strike territory.
The 300+ Days of Rage March wasn't broken up, it just ended.
Not a protest. Just everyone, nation wide. Stops going to work. Until union dispute = companies are forced to accept union demands without reprisal.
What's really funny about this article is that it links to 2 other articles talking about an entirely different demographic. This one's about 18-24 year olds, and then it links to 2 articles about millennials as if that's the same age group.
I don't know if the author even knows that we're not millennials.
