Sounds like communism to me. Here in the Free World we CHOOSE to sit at a desk for 40 hours a week!
First the communists demand 40 hour work weeks, now they’re demanding less a century later. You can’t win with these people 
To be fair humans arent meant to work 60 hour work weeks either

I had some bad plantar fasciitis some years ago and it really opened my eyes to how expensive it is to care for your feet. Not only will we behead the rich, we'll take their unspoiled appendages.
Have to wear $450 orthotics to not be in constant excruciating pain now 
Me too except the orthotics are for my back and they hurt my feet 😭
I’m on my feet a lot for work but I’m not moving huge pallets of product or working in an active construction site; I’m mainly meeting end users for in person tech support. What kind of foot rescuing shoes exist for when work boots aren’t appropriate?
Depends on what you need for your feet. If you need a ton of arch support, certain running shoes like Stability or Guidance Saucony, Brooks, ASICS, or even New Balance could work. Otherwise, you might have luck with superfeet or spenco inserts.
If you don't need a lot of arch support, neutral running shoes could work. Certain work shoes do come in low cut and soft toe versions, that look more like casual shoes. Something like a Timberland Pro Titan low sodt toe,might work, or maybe a Merrel jungle moc, or a keen hiker. If you need akl black dress shoes, perhaps a slip resistant 608 new balance. All leather.

I like Hoka's and Merrels, myself. I'm flat footed, so I may have some biases.
Doctor Scholl's is one of the companies that drops the pretense that we're not in a cyberpunk setting and starts selling and installing cyborg feet.
Worked service industry/customer service/retail adjacent jobs my whole life where I was on my feet 8+ hours a day and couldn't sit because sitting = not working to these ghouls, and even with arch support/insoles or whatever the fuck, still was sore and tired constantly.
Landed a remote job a few months ago with enough down time that allows me to go to the gym every other day and hey would you look at that all of my foot and back pain is gone wow it's like human beings weren't meant to be in one position for a third of the day what a fucking concept
This post really calls to me. I'm a runner and I've rarely had jobs that allow me to sit. There's points where I've had to give up running because I had to chose what set of shoes I needed more. Edit: cause good shoes are pricey if you rolled poorly on your bones in the genetic lottery.
