Youtube Revanced maybe? It has worked for me. However for downloading videos you still need Newpipe I think

Revanced has a patch option for downloading videos called External Downloads.
I haven't used it, so I can't guarantee it'll work.
The new pipe is busted, it's all about libretube now
LibreTube is the goat. I use it with my own Piped server and it's so much faster than NewPipe with their own backend.
Mine starts piling up crashes until eventually I can't watch anything. Usually I just reinstall it.
No problems for me.
