I'm a web developer, and I don't know any peers in my field that look like that.

Like... That's just a hipster. They mostly live in Oregon. Nothing against that, that's just where they collect haha.

Lumberjacks vs "People who once had an idea for an app".

It's dated from 2016, maybe that's how it was seven years ago.

I'm sorry that your hipsters don't develop software though. I would like to try to help change that, for the better.

Oregon and Hollywood, although they dress differently in Hollywood.

I sleep all night and I work all day
(He's a lumberjack And he's OK
He sleeps all night and he works all day) ....

Hey, maybe one day programmers will also sleep all night and work all day.

Web Developers in 2023: “Dear ChatGPT, please center this div for me”

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

or just unemployed. Lots of software developers are getting the boot right now.

My first draft was “Web Developers in 2023: ‘My ChatGPT account got banned and now I might have to find another line of work’” Sorry to hear about you situation.

That's a good source for a Swole Doge vs Cheems meme

chatGPT is not even near perfect. It is just a trained model with solutions from internet forums and web pages. Its more like a search engine with fancy words. All the result it produces is trash. One can't even write a basic working code with chatGPT.

Its an another form of algorithm that already exists and bit upgraded. Its more of a hype.

Seven years later the web developer has the same hair and beard but no pants

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

I'm in this comment, and... I guess I'm okay with that.

But for all any of you know I'm wearing dress slacks and shiny professional shoes, and not at all enjoying cozy PJ pants and sandals over socks.

I'm guessing somewhere around 2016, but that's just my gut feeling.

I like it when they just tell us upfront how old they are like that.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

2025: "Lumberjack" on the left, "Lumberjack" on the right

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Nah, I think there were web developers that looked like lumberjacks in 1996, too.
