Regardless of how much misery it might cause the parents to relinquish the baby in a humane way, it's still on them to do so. I'm running out of ways to say this. You all are wild.

You are talking about a group of people who are angry at the state for ruining their lives by becoming parents not as a matter of choice but under duress. Abortion having legal consequences and surrender oftentimes saddling these unwilling people with lifelong consequences due to the means of tracking and investigation available there isn't really an "out" here. So these dumpster kids to their parents at birth become incredibly personal symbols of oppression, pain, removal of autonomy and one's own life losing value. It's very difficult to ask someone to value a life when they feel their own lives have lost value. Accepting a harder but more moral path is more likely to be followed through when you feel like you have something worth losing. The discarding of life can be seen as a form of reciprocated violence by individuals who feel like they themselves were discarded.

It may even be instinctually sourced. A lot of mammals placed in a position of extreme stress will kill their young. From what we've witnessed throughout history Humans are no exception.

I want you to imagine something for a moment. Don't just read it, really visualise it.

In front of you stands a girl, she's 14 years old. Her body and mind are broken as a result of months of rape and abuse at the hands of sex traffickers. With no other option, she gives birth in a filthy ally and is forced by her circumstances to do one of the most heartbreaking and dispicable acts imaginable - let her baby die.

Are you seriously saying you would look this child in the eye and tell her it was her fault? That she is the one to blame? That she should be punished for what she went through?

This is the level of desperation and suffering the people who are resorting to this are experiencing. This is the sick reality for people, probably closer to you than you realize.

So maybe think for while next time you want to start talking about who's "morally obligated" to do things.

It goes without saying that nobody should throw a living being in a dumpster. I'm not arguing against that, and I explicitly mentioned that I'm not addressing the morality side of your argument.

Rather, I am addressing your idealistic and unrealistic beliefs that a parent can always just relinquish a baby in a humane way, as though that's an option that's both consistently possible irrespective of the circumstances and as simple to do as merely leaving the baby on the curb of a building owned by government services.

No shit, leaving an infant in a dumpster is the worst possible thing a parent can choose to do. But, unless you've had the experience of actually trying to permanently relinquish an unwanted child to the state or an organization and are familiar with the challenges and roadblocks put in place to make that as difficult as possible, you're doing little other than virtue signaling when asserting that they "could have just done this instead."

Instead of unconditionally condemning individuals for immoral acts that likely were made out of desperation, we should be looking at why someone would think throwing a baby in fucking dumpster is the solution to their problem. Nobody other than a psychopath would consider that to be the default solution, and unless you can prove that 100% of people who do it are diagnosed psychopaths, you should be taking a closer look into where society failed at providing appropriate resources and education to parents who want to humanely relinquish their children to the state.

I'm not saying anyone who does it is a misunderstood saint with a gun pointed at their head, but fuck—don't just blame individuals while ignoring the systemic problems.

Parents are people that want a baby. I do not know what people beeing forced to carry a unwanted mass to term is. A slave? Or a prisoner? trafficing victim? There should be a word for it when someone is forced by the goverment to destroy their body for the foverments viles. any case they are a victim, as much as the baby. They just had to suffer longer.
