Apologies for more trump stuff on your feed, this hurt me personally.

I was born in Alaska, and I have never heard a single person there call it mckinley, despite the vast majority of my time there having been before it was "officially" recognized as Denali.

Now this rat bastard wants to change it, despite people calling it Denali long before any name was written down for the mountain. His greed is serving to lessen our culture in the popular eye.

P.S.I know that the federal name isn't literally "the official name", but I'd be surprised if this doesn't cause a lot of people outside the state to start calling it that.

mckinley is lowercase on purpose

Edit: I want to mention that this is not entirely serious, as can be seen in me calling him a 'rat bastard'. This is obviously false, as he grew up in a loving rat family.

Free speech time. Keep calling it Denali and in 4 years you can petition whoever to get it officially put back. Same goes for the gulf of Mexico. I'm gonna keep calling it the gulf of Mexico because that's what it's been called my entire goddamn life.

On that note Pluto is a still a planet in my heart. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

The Pluto one I finally understand, a science show pointed it that more recently there were 100s of other Pluto sized objects orbiting our sun, so they either had to add 100s more to match Pluto status, or demote Pluto to planetoid to avoid all the others getting status.

Oh I know why Pluto was demoted, but I am choosing to live in denial for the rest of my life.

Plus I can't stop using the Pluto line from psych as a conversation changer. "You hear what they did to Pluto? Messed up".

Well, your state still decided to guzzle his balls anyway. And seriously? Of all the shit, THIS was the one? Not the LGBT discrimination, the blanket pardon of ALL the J6 traitors, the attempted removal of birthright citizenship, the mass deportation orders...I could go on...but the name of something impacts NO ONE. Sorry, but this is like #999 on the priority list

Distracting from the fact he will only raise inflation and by extension all prices

It's not a top issue, but it's super easy to make trump's toddlerishness ineffective.

You just use the correct name, Denali. This isn't a tough one. Denali needs to get said more times than some other propaganda name. That's all. Its name is Denali, so Denali us what we say.

Same with Gulf of Mexico. Fascists easily defeated on one minor front by people just saying correct things.

He can't change the name, he can put some bullshit on some document.

It's Denali, and we are the ones who decide that. All you have to do is use its name, which is Denali. Just being correct when you say things is all that's required, and we probably want to do that anyway.

I feel like this about every rebrand. And yet, the media usually goes along with it, and everyone follows.

X is a letter and that's it.

It is Denali. And where I live, I only call it The Mountain or Tahoma.

I am with you here my friend.

"The Mountain's out."

Where does mt mckinley as a name come from?

Like why does he want that to be the name instead of what everyone calls it?

From Wikipedia, he said:

McKinley was a very good, maybe a great president. They took his name off Mount McKinley. That's what they do to people. President McKinley was the president that was responsible for creating a vast sum of money. That's one of the reasons that we're going to bring back the name of Mount McKinley, because I think he deserves it.

President McKinley was the president that was responsible for creating a vast sum of money.

What a profoundly... "Trumpian" idea of a great president

Gross.

The guy even makes the nouveau riche embarrassed with his desperate insecurity.

Apparently not enough to vote for someone else...

Reminder, Harris would not do this.

I can't imagine the feds have much say over the state and local government. Am I wrong?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Ironically before the last few months I was unaware of the more appropriate native name but now im more likely to use it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hmm, to be fair I never heard of Denali, it was always McKinley. But I'm not from the US, so maybe that's why I missed the name change.

As for current events: this renaming locations is obviously done out of petty reasons and in bad faith. But I guess any distraction will do for them at this point...
