there is probably more detailed info about this but from the end of the article:

For the medical research community, however, the termination of these programs might be the least of its concerns. As of Tuesday, all external communication from agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the NIH, Centers for Disease Control, and the Food and Drug Administration, were put on hold. This will include things like alerts regarding the spread of emerging diseases, such as the H5N1 bird flu that’s currently widespread in agricultural animals.

But today, it became clear that this policy extended well beyond external communications. One researcher said that an NIH workshop was canceled mid-presentation. Others have reported that all evaluations of grant proposals by the NIH are now on hold indefinitely. Should the hold last for any significant amount of time, it will have severe ripple effects, as arranging the peer review panels that evaluate grants involves complicated scheduling and travel, so the delays may persist for considerably longer.

Hold a government program underwater until the bubbles stop. Whine pathetically to anyone who will listen that it's "broken" and should therefore be dismantled rather than fixed.

That's completely inline with the Republican MO. I would expect them to push it as far as possible this time. Hope the the MAGA folks are ready to take it in the ass with the rest of us since that's what they signed us all up for.

This is very likely real, here is the issued guidance from OPM including the template.

These inclusion programs are dividing Americans!

This matches the other emails posted by various agencies. Clearly this is the template email they were directed to use.

Pretty much just following Project 2025 to the letter.

Are they supposed to report any black coworkers for being employed? I'm confused about what's supposed to be reported here

People gotta understand that "science" under capitalism is a means of violent control. Research and development is almost entirely directed by interests of "defense"/imperialism and the preservation of capitalism. There's nothing "cool" or smart about these servants in the MIC building missiles, bombs, and whatnot.

Gonna push back on the umbrella term “science”.

“Science” funded using Department of Defense funds are mostly everything you’ve said.

Science funded by the National Institute of Health is required to be publicly available (after a short period of time, journal dependent IIRC) and is going to have reduced funds under this maggot administration.

A general anti-science stance is extremely stupid and how we got to this situation in the first place. Look at the stupid shit anti-renewables people are saying.
