I really hope Obama is playing some “keep your enemies closer” thing, but I am not holding my breath.

Fake smiles from Obama probably hurt trump's voters more than any angry discussions we have here.
TBH I feel like agitating against fascism is much more effective than collaborating.
A particularly loud belch out of Barron is liable to have more impact on those voters than we have here.
remember when it wad said that obama couldn't get visibly angry and shouty, even when those reactions would be appropriate and deserved? it was because the image of the angry black man would have been pure oxygen to the racist and both sides blame game fire. and it looks like the same thing is happening here with some people thinking being "chummy" with trump at carter's funeral was some sort of acceptance message. it wasn't. in fact i think the same don't appear to be the angry black man rules apply here. it's not that obama didn't show trump the back of his head when they were close, it's that obama couldn't because then the story wouldn't be about the funeral. it would be about obama being rude to the president-elect, and trump would use that to claim even more victim status.
you can still hate someone and what they stand for and still be polite in a very public setting. this was a total non-story that corporate vichy media was trying to use to stir up controversy (which drives up clicks and views) which failed miserably. any outlet trying to revive said issue needs to be looked at skeptically for their reasons why it was doing so.

70 year old multi millionaire political analyst for Fox News writes a horrible opinion piece about the current situation. And it's taken as "News" by so many.

Given that he never followed through on that ambition in any meaningful way but he did play a significant role in millions of poor Indians starving to death I don't see how this story detracts from their point
Churchill's genocide is independent from the idea that statesman will be polite in public that doesn't match anything else about their upbringing or beliefs.

Yeah, they're both wealthy war criminals, there's a lot to equate there
The fact that their material circumstances are so similar probably contributes to how naturally it comes to Obama to normalize Trump by treating him with respect he doesn't deserve at public events like this
Obama is worth $3 million. Trump is worth tens of billions minimum (from Truth Social stock grift and meme crypto pump and dump).
Someone born poor and saved $3m by retirement is not the same as someone born a billionaire and still a billionaire.
Someone making minimum wage is 10x closer to Obama in wealth than Obama is to Trump.
Every President has killed. Even Carter. Obama has a lower kill count than any modern President besides Carter.
