While it definitely appears to be a hate crime, i just cant emphasize how different racial relationships are in Sweden compared to USA.
We didn't have a constitution that said people are free, whilst justifying slaves by saying they weren't human, since they were "black"

Hate crime, likely, but we don't know. Because Swedish authorities doesn't publicize such info out of concerns of privacy for potentially innocent adjacent.

Jesus christ, imagine finding out your son is the perpetuator of a horrific shooting and is dead from a tabloid reporter. I have way more sympathy for the families of the actual victims but it's still awful for the father.
I knew a guy who died in a car wreck in northern Norway and the picture of the wreck was up on the front page of the paper before his mother was notified. She found out by opening the website and seeing her sons car.

I'm white and went to a school like that to get my missing qualifications for university admission. University admission is based on having certain grades in certain classes. So if you want to study something that you didn't take the classes for in high school, then you need to take them as an adult. I for example had to take a mathematics class. There were about 50/50 Europeans/non Europeans at the school I went to.
That statement verbatim does less than you probably expected in clarifying.
I think that's the point. A bit of a reality check for those people who believe they know how things work in other countries based on their very superficial POV, despite failing at the basics.

Are you from Sweden? Everyone from Scandinavia is aware that race relations are not great (especially in Sweden). But information on race and cultural background are genuinely not collected. This is because they're trying desperately not to cause divisions in society (it doesn't work because everyone jumps to conclusions anyway).
Furthermore skin colour actually has very little to do with shooters being classified as terrorists in Scandinavia because Norway's worst terrorist (and not a single fucking person here would classify him as anything else) was very white, very Norwegian and very proud of that fact.
In fact until 2001 most if the terrorist groups people were familiar with in Europe were white national separatist groups like the IRA and ETA. They were classified as terrorist groups because
1: they are a group
and most importantly
2: they commit acts of terror.
Norway’s worst terrorist (and not a single fucking person here would classify him as anything else) was very white, very Norwegian
So were his victims.
His victims were a pretty representative cross section of Norwegian kids. But his motivation was anti immigration/ fascist ideology.
Shooter had a hunting license and used his own hunting weapon for the attack. He had no known affiliations with criminals and had no criminal records of his own. He had no income during 2023 according to his tax statements.

Sweden just opened up for the AR styled rifles with big magazines as "Hunting" rifles in 23. With the scant information that has come out so far, it seams likely it was this sort of rifle.

This is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history to date.
Minister of State Ulf Kristersson held a press conference a few hours ago, and the King has issued a statement also.
It's honestly quite draining with the constantly escalating violence. Many here didn't initially react or realize the magnitude when the initial news hit after lunch citing five people shot.
Right now though one of our most prolific Swedish online forums (flashback) is down due to excessive traffic, and last I saw the news have blown up on mainstream platforms too.
Thsi whole planet has got mental health issues and I don't know how the fuck we even start resolving that shit.
When I look at history, it seems the only times that the violence has calmed down are the periods following some immense, extended, extreme violence, to the point that everyone left living is sick and tired of it and says "no more".
And that... that is deeply frightening in the present context.

It's been 80 years since the last round of immense, extended, extreme violence. Those who remember and their children have died, even their grandchildren are old. Here we go again...
What's the famous quote? "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
I think there is a certain accuracy to that statement, but I feel it also fails to recognize the human element involved. We know history now. The average person today knows far more than anyone in the past knew about history ever and yet ... We continue to make the same mistakes as a species.
Some people just want to make change regardless of direction. We feel restless when things are going too well for too long. Even if it's bad change we seek change regardless.
So that's why purge.
It's not at all the whole planet, but just the people in violent control and those who support them.
What's going on in Sweden? We're not used to hearing about this many shootings in a country other than the US.
Shootings against civilians like this are very rare. The immigrant gangs however hire 15 year old trigger men, pay 10 000 dollars per kill. They usually only go for other gang members. Except when they use explosives.

The gang leaders are in Iran and lead from a distance. Iran doesn't help.
