It’s also red versus blue.

It can be two things.

Yeah people who say this shit act like one side isn't literally stripping away human rights.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 10 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Pretty sure it’s the billionaires on the other side of that line, not the state.

Only as much as citizens let them. The “state” isn’t your enemy, and acting as such only seeks to make people distrust the government 100% of the time, rather than having any sort of nuance.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 3 points 3 weeks ago

Hm, that's fair. Billionaires lobby the government then, but don't fully control it

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago

Billionaires are The State now.

No it isn't.

It's not a culture war this is a class war with a culture war used to distract those falling for it from realizing it's actually a class war.

It's the rich and powerful versus everyone else. The culture war is funded to keep us fighting amongst each other so they can go ahead and continue grabbing power and influence.

There are tens of millions of useful idiots employed by propaganda used to facilitate this. Propaganda created funded and propagated by the other side of the class war from us.

By falling for the culture war, you too, are a useful idiot (just on the other side) that removes resources and energy that could be directed towards the real enemy.

Always Remember: if you are being driven to hate despise or fight against someone not in an elite class. You are being manipulated, you are being treated like a sucker, you are the pawn. You are being told to fight against other people in the same situation you are in, to squabble amongst each other while the rich get richer. Don't be a sucker, don't be a pawn, maintain focus on the real targets of your animosity.

you are incorrect.

you are naively believing in the conservative idea that civil rights are the same thing as a " culture war".

if the blue people were in charge, then women would have autonomy over their own bodies, trans people would be in the military, and most Supreme Court decisions that led to the salient problems in you in society would not have passed. those those issues are due to the red people organizing and successfully executing a coup over several decades.

any oligarchy is and has always been a problem, but there is an irrefutable and polemic difference between having conservative extremists in charge and The Democratic party in power in the US.

You are pretending otherwise(or have blindly swallowed the conservative drivel about a culture war) so that you don't have to address the real problems around you.

More likely "the rich vs. you"

[–] chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 3 weeks ago

Right now the state is red and the republicans, conservatives and non-voters are all too busy licking the boot or just being apathetic to do anything about it.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

A quick look at opinion polls shows that it's very much red vs. blue.

Truth. Gotta hand it to the elites. After occupy wall street, they did a very effective job at getting the masses to turn on each other.
