Charlie's Angels. I thought it was going to be a braindead remake of the TV show (at a time when there were a lot of braindead movie remakes of TV shows) but it was great and as soon as it was done I was excited for a sequel.

But yeah, the sequel sucked.

Zardoz is an actual religious experience. you expect a giggle at Sean Connery in a thong but then you're glued to the screen for two hours straight.

Twilight. My gf friends were watching it and I joined in. It comes of as self aware and is nowhere near as bad. People hate the ip but the movie is fine.

...hot tub time machine was way better than it had any right to be...

...i begrudgingly walked into the theatre expecting rogue one to be another yet installment of phoned-in franchise slop and walked out having watched the best star wars film since 1977...

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

It actually was pretty bad but I had a blast watching it, I'm not ashamed to say I like it.

Space Truckers

The first Rambo movie, probably. I kind of expected a campy, thoughtless, somewhat militaristic action movie, but it actually had a pretty deep story which social issues front and center.

Transformers One was worlds better than its advertising campaign would have you believe.

I remember watching Tenet for the first time and giving up because the sound mix is rather odd, and I find it hard to hear what the characters are saying. A year or so later, I stuck on a pair of decent headphones and tried again. Watched it all the way through and absolutely loved it.

I'm also one of the rare people to actually enjoy Ghostbusters (2016)! The trailers had me worried, and I expected the worst to be honest.

I'm with you on Ghostbusters 2016. If you're not expecting an all-time great like the original was, it's a good time. A decent comedy movie with a good heart. It helps if you're watching the extended cut, though.

In a perfect world, I'd like a hybrid version. I think that some jokes in the extended cut fall a bit flat. Ideally, I would like the theatrical cut of the film but with the full dance number of the extended cut.

In a way, I'm quite happy the majority seem to hate it. I picked up the 2 disc Blu-ray edition in a Poundland store for just £2! When I got my PS5, it was one of the first 4K discs I purchased as it was only £5.

Liking the unpopular film has its advantages. 😁

I’m mostly thinking of the dance number and the way the theatrical version cuts the final act split between Erin and Abby, which guts their respective arcs. I’ve only seen the theatrical once, so I couldn’t name what jokes it omitted. But there’s a good chance I’d agree with you, since there are a number of gags I wouldn’t miss. Mostly the “Kevin’s so dumb” bits, which don’t work for me.

Pacific Rim 2

I assumed it was going to be trash based on that premise, but it had a high production quality and didn't take itself very seriously, which made it rather entertaining.
