Tron Legacy
The Crow
Shrek 2
Sucker Punch
X-files.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is my absolute fav.
Haven’t seen anyone mention Cinema Paradiso or The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Both are wildly different. Ennio Morricone is a genius.
There’s also The Incredibles - Michael Giacchino
The Greatest Showman - Various Artists
Saving Private Ryan - John Williams
The Prince of Egypt - Hans Zimmer
The Gospel of John - Jeff Dann (great middle eastern vibe)
The crow
Kill Bill Volume 2! And I like the Carol (2015) soundtrack (totally not a lesbian).
Amélie
I was a hipster in high school and I used to have Amelie on my iPod classic. Was such a tiny screen. :)
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
Not a movie but all 3 Beastars openings sound so good
Mine is from the 1996 anime film X. It is based on a CLAMP manga and goes much harder than the poster would lead you to believe.
The soundtrack complements the tone perfectly with its experimental and unsettling atmosphere.
Already lots of LOTR & Tron: Legacy here. Not seeing much love for animated film scores, so on that note & in no particular order:
A couple of these have great soundtracks, too, but I do love a good score.
Nausicaa!
Tron 2. Daft Punk without lyrics is perfect for me.
Trainspotting
Hackers
Atomic Blonde
Go
Grease
The Big Lebowski
The Crow
Mary Poppins
Scream 3
Django unchained
American pie
Spiderman into the spider verse
Oh Brother Where Art Thou is a good one.
Koyaanisqatsi
Solaris (the remake)
Whiplash
Broken Flowers
The Fountain
Pirates ot Caribbean
I feel like whiplash is cheating but you right lol
I just watched Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure yesterday and though the soundtrack is not original, the soundtrack made the movie.
The Mission 1986.
A few of my favs, in no particular order:
Tron Legacy.
One of the few soundtracks I can listen from front to back.
Desperado
Batman (both Elfman and Prince)
Last Action Hero
The Matrix
LOTR
The Fifth Element
Terminator 2
Vangelis, enough said.
Dune (1984)
The Fifth Element
Toto’s Dune score is objectively amazing, and also that one Brian Eno track was perfect. Good pick.
2001: A Space Odyssey. Ligeti scared the shit out of me as a kid, and I love it.
Animatrix. It's been in my regular listening rotation for probably over 15 years now.
Into the wild
A few that spring to mind...
Vertigo
Psycho
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Mulholland Drive
All 3 LOTR films
Star Wars OT
Indiana Jones (especially Raiders)
The Sweet Smell of Success
Oh yes, I remember the Twin Peaks movie having the Cherubini requiem. Awesome stuff
Ah, I never knew what that piece was. It's fantastic though, a perfect fit along with all of Badalamenti and Lynch's music.
My particular favourite is the weird drone of The Pink Room, turned up loud, but it's all good!
My favorite is the soundtrack to Princess Mononoke, composed by Joe Hisaishi.
Bad Company (Trevor Rabin)
Starship Troopers (Basil Poledouris)
Star Trek 2009 (Michael Giacchino)
The Mask Of Zorro (James Horner)
Gross Pointe Blank
The Natural
To Live and Die in LA by Wang Chung is another great one that hasn't been mentioned yet
Hereditary solely for that ending banger. Or anything by Atticus Ross and/or Trent Reznor. I recently rewatched the Book of Eli and it feels dated, but THOSE SOUNDS.
Fight Club, Amélie, The Crow (original), To Live and Die in LA
Highlander
Pump Up The Volume
Godfather 1 Highlander Empire of the Sun Backdraft Star Wars Ep. 4 Goodfellas Purple Rain
