We have yet another example of the conservatives having only short term gain and quick profits on their mind. Turner and the liberals were right when they said that we have been building this country east to west for a century plus, and that we should have continued doing so. And now we are seeing Turner's predictions coming true, and a conservative sold us the fuck out and took the easy way Instead of nation building.

Honestly, living in Germany now, allowing private care to harvest market forces is not too bad of an idea and might be more effective at keeping the doctors in Canada.

You can enrol in private care once your income exceeds a certain threshold (but you still pay a certain amount for the public care). You can opt for, for example, a more premium tooth filling if you wish (And yes, dental care is included in Germany’s healthcare). This allows the doctors to charge more from the rich.
