Welcome!
Can you imagine, years ago how the internet was before? We know Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube. We knew blogger, Tumblr, Skyrock... and long before, it was the forum era as phpBB..and mail-lists.
And now with ActivityPub, we are reshaping the web, and achieving much with lots of freedom. So thank you all, and welcome ๐ค๐

Gotta pad out the wallets.
Allegedly the funds will be donated to a community-chosen non profit and it's just to keep bots out but I have doubts
Digg died once, it will die again.
Digg Dugg Diggs grave
Now Digg Digging Diggs corpse out to see of people remember why they no longer digg it.
Now with "AI" added.
DAIgg..agonal
Diaggonal!
Trade mark it now!!!
not that i would have been interested in corporate social media anyway, but
Artificial intelligence will also play a larger part in making Digg more accessible to users, Rose said
makes it an instant hard no for me
I may check it out. But I don't have high hopes. And I'll stick with Lemmy for as long as it remains unenshittfied.
What's a "digg"?
Man, coming to this corner of Fedi as something other than some Reddit inhabitant looking for a decaf version makes a lot of the conversation seem very strange.
Digg becoming really successful feels like a very bad thing, so naturally I'm inclined to believe that it is indeed what will happen.
They also look like they have gamification in place already which is something we're ideologically opposed to over here but has proven effective many times.
Do we even know anything about the new Digg? No data to process. Wait for input. Out.
Here's a preview
"Leaderboard" Ah, so the frontpage will be people scrambling to earn as much "diggs" as possible, prioritizing worthless points over actual quality content, just like reddit. Jfc.
Oh great I can't wait. Not.
I think their ui is a good ressource material for design inspiration. Nice sidebar. :)
If you want a cool UI you can look at https://blorpblorp.xyz/
Of course, as usual, the name sounds... debatable x)
Not my favorite but i love their settings menu, very clean. :)
It'll fail, free alternatives are already entrenched with all the same features.
no one has heard of these, word of mouth is doing terribly and there is no marketing budget for here, most ppl dont even want an influx of users, lemmy needs an ad fund or something
most ppl dont even want an influx of users
Vocal minority, everyone on [email protected] would like more users
No one has to move, that's why Digg will fail. In order to succeed they need to offer something people are willing to pay for, when they're getting everything Digg is offering right now, for free.
Screenshot?
Seems like that's everything they give you for the 5 bucks

Ffs that's it? For money???
Apparently. Don't really get why people would pay for that
Boredom. I'm going with boredom
People love their paid Memberberry slop, but I don't think this is it, fam.
Is this new Digg going to be part of the fediverse?
If it is successful, it will probably hinder a lot of the Threadiverse growth, the same way Bluesky hindered the growth of the Twittoverse
