The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on Thursday held that a Massachusetts law banning the sale, transfer, or possession of an assault weapon is not unconstitutional under the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. This decision comes after Massachusetts resident, Joseph Capen, contended that he was planning on purchasing items covered by the law for purposes of self-defense.

Don't buy an assault rifle. Get an AR-15.

You can't buy an assault rifle. That's not a real thing. I'm happy with my AR-15.

That's the joke, kind of. ;)

But an assault rifle is real, it's just not available for the general public. (Unless Arizona, I think? Their laws are a bit different when it comes to full auto.)

Doesn't really matter in the sorta short to long term. 3D printing makes building these things at home pretty dang trivial to the point where you'd have to outlaw hardware stores. Cat's out of the bag and I'm wing to bet it'll turn into another war on drugs

The specific definition of these things doesn't matter at all to me. If you can pump over let's say 10 bullets into a crowd in seconds, that fucking thing should be hard to get minimum. Probably banned. I don't know, we can't study this shit because Republicans are evil.

OTOH, if ICE thugs are breaking down your door, it's exactly what you want. Maybe that's the scenario you should be more concerned about at this point, don't you think?

We need this shit because Republicans are evil.

Not exactly. For those who have that concern, I'm not sure any firearm will solve their problem, let alone a more extreme version of one

2nd amendment was meant as a checks and balance for exactly the situation that is happening right now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

And it has never and will NEVER be used that way. Wouldn't work even if people all stood up to try and use it that way

Americans are legally allowed to use guns to take down everyone wearing golden trump pin in the white house and they would get away with it in the court afterwards as long as they get every single sympathyzer.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Oh yes so all you have to do is murder about 80 million people. Great plan!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What about the American Civil War?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Great example. An armed rebellion failed and killed hundreds of thousands in the process.

When you're already about to be shipped to a concentration camp to die, you have nothing to lose by trying to take some of them with you.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 5 days ago

Ah yes, guns suddenly solving problems now

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This is why people like you should never have a say on the matter…

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

This is why it's bad that gun psychopaths like you have power

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So, ban shotguns too? You can swnd off way more than 10 projectiles with just one pull of the trigger.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I didn't say projectiles. You're being pedantic on purpose

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Wtf do you think a bullet is? Your ignorance is showing.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 5 days ago

I think you know precisely what I meant and the intent behind it and so I'm done wasting my time with fools like you

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

It's defined in certain states laws, like the one in the article.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

They banned "assault weapons" not assault rifles.

It includes AR-15s, and most every gun made since 1950.
