This is someone that lives in a bubble that is a protected class

He wins he becomes wealthy ... he loses he is still wealthy

He doesn't care what happens, he's always going to have money thrown at him. Winning an election and becoming PM was just a bonus if things had worked out but no matter the result, he still ends up with millions and a generous pension.

He is also a discipline of Stephen Harper who is involved in deep dark international politics now and making a fortune. Chances are, that is where PP will end up in the next few years or decades.

Right, but it has to hurt his pride and sense of worth even just a little bit, no? Please, I need this.

This guy secured a government pension by the time most people are still trying to get their footing financially. He's also never created anything of value as a career politician. At the very least Justin Trudeau was a drama teacher and snowboard instructor. Carney has had multiple 'grown up' jobs. I wouldn't feel bad for PP.

He's politician. He has more money than you can realisticaly imagine.

Dude is going to be holding down a seven figure no-show lobbying job for nine months, retake his seat in the next election, and be right back on the warpath by 2030.

People like this only ever fall upwards.

You think Canadian politicians are all rich?

[–] [email protected] 28 points 6 days ago

He will do the normal thing. Become a director to a company for a few years then turn to being a lobbyist and or write a mediocre autobiography.

He's conservative. It's a small club of rich people trying to fuck over the others and PP is their custom built celebrity for their cause - if he doesn't have too much money then the people paying for his campaign do and bought him his bespoke Alberta cowboy look.

Rich in Canada means you can buy Tim Horton's without even checking the prices on the menu

As soon as he receives his cheque from the indian government, he is.
Eitherway, MPs have a salary of 200k, and can have 60% of that from his pension (source: chatgpt). It may not be "rich" rich, but far enough not to have to work his entire life. Too bad he won't have the special amount for the Prime Minister, though...

Its rich relative to the value they produce.

Richer than us

No they're not. Some are though. Pierre will still need a way to make money going forwards lol.

He actually probably doesnt. He has been making top bracket income for the past 20 years. The last few years he has been making just shy of 300k with his housing+everything else provided to him as opposition leader. In 10 years he can start collecting one of the biggest pensions in government (behind Trudeau).

Poor politicians, living on the salary... Wait until I measure out the 10^-20^mol of tears.

I really liked Carney when he was governor of the BoE in the UK during the Brexit years. He seemed like one of the few adults in the room.

All because a clown south of your border was running his mouth

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago

Top all that with and he's 45. Lol

He’s still useful to the people who can conjure money into being. Surely they can spare him a few oil-company board positions, book deals, newspaper columns or “consultancy” roles in think tanks, or otherwise throw him enough of an allowance to reward his service and keep him ready for the future. And then there’s the public speaking circuit.

Boy’s not going to be bagging groceries.
