Ads? On YouTube? Is that a thing?
Isn't the irony of this that those key points are generally after sponsorship segments
Zombie YouTube is so heartbreaking. It was the coolest thing around ten years ago.
At this point if you aren't willing to pay for YouTube just make plans to let it go because it won't be usable by the end of the year.
I'll abandon YT before paying for it.
Besides, paying subscribers will end up with ads in the long run, anyway, just like streaming services.
That's literally what I already said. Gonna have to abandon or pay they aren't giving out half mediums anymore
Newpipe, vancetube. It is YouTube without ads
On mobile.
On Desktop you can use FireFox + uBlock Origin.
On smart tv
Smart tube (android/google tv), tizentube (Samsung) and youtube-webos (LG)
Or adblock DNS 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15
DNS blocking doesn't really work for YouTube ads.
Just don’t use YouTube
Moving to a different service is easier and better in the long term
All of this is temporary they will start showing ads in stream with video or edit them directly into the video after upload. It's a simple thing for them to do since everything is per recorded unlike places like twitch where it's live.
Peertube would be the next jump
The big channels with sponsors definitely could jump over there.

I stopped regular viewership of YouTube years ago. I no longer seek out new creators just check back in on the ones I used to watch from time to time until they stop uploading or I forget about them.✌️
adblockers are free and effective
The ads are going to be baked into the video there's nothing to skip

I wonder if Gemini AI will detect when I leave the website when an ad comes on.
I use IgeBlock on my phone and UBlock Origin on my laptop, so I only experience ads when I watch stuff with my parents lol
I use Firefox with uBlock on Android without any problem. Maybe the only issue would be the lack of swipe features, if it doesn't annoy me so much.
I feel like it’s already been A/B testing this on me. I somewhat think it serves me more ads on the mobile app since I block the ads religiously on desktop, though, so I might be an edge case.
Every time I had a video playing while doing the dishes these last few weeks, whenever they say something in the video that makes me look up from my sink, without fail, I’ve been hit with an advertisement. I thought it was weird because I knew people can specify where the ads go (so that the flow isn’t interrupted as much). And then I saw it happen again and again across different channels.
