You just need to change the image to “wrap through” or “wrap behind”. In Word it’s usually under the “Wrap Text” option when right-clicking on the image.
Why isn't an easy way to move images around the default?
Decades old assumptions biased toward print rather than web based design.
Tables used to drive me nuts. You'd move a column by mistake and it would be nearly impossible for the lines to align again, like they'd always be 1px out.
Little Bobby?
Try to make a hierarchy of lists where some items have more than one paragraph.
Nominally, Word does that.
the good ole people using word for projects that are meant to be designed using publisher.
its like eating pasta with solely a spoon. not that you cant, but dont be mad when you get to the point you end up with spaghetti and didnt switch to the proper utencil.
Word is far older than Publisher and is meant as a desktop publishing application.
More importantly though, Publisher is EOL.
im aware, but its moreso part of the reason publisher is gone because most people just shoehorn the content into word regardless. its religious refusal to change that basically ended publisher. word being older is part of the reason why many people refused yo change their workflow, even though it ultimately would have benefited them more in the long run had they done so.
… most people just shoehorn the content into word regardless.
Don’t get me started on Excel and databases.
Better than Word databases
I think it’s more that MS always tries to hit all the demographics at once. People who really need it are going to use Quark, Adobe, Corel, or something more use case specific. People who don’t are going to be fine with Pages, Writer, Word, etc. the few times they need something more powerful than a word processor. Publisher ended up in the “no-man’s-land” in the middle.
Stop using a document editor for page layout.
Problem solved.
So... Use it only for editing documents that aren't composed of pages?
It's certainly not for non-formatted documents. So... it's for documents that are formatted but don't have a layout?
Maybe they shouldn't have added all the features to Word that makes it look like it is able to do page layout.
