Weird, the thing I know Fallout 76 for is having Bethesda's most egregiously greedy microtx store in their entire history as a company, for a buggy mess of a Fallout game that didn't iterate or improve on anything from the previous titles. But that appears to be missing from this list ๐ค
Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

I guess it's good that FromSoft doesn't/didn't go down that road. Let's hope they keep it that way
For real. FromSoft have historically been good about that though. I remember when they were forced to include preorder bonuses for Dark Souls 2. Not only were the "bonuses" regular items that pretty much anyone could get within an hour or two of playing, FromSoft made them unlockable by modifying a plaintext file in the game directory so even if you hadn't preordered you could get them as though you had.
It doesn't mean it won't change of course, but it doesn't seem like it's imminent or even in the pipeline with the current leadership.
This wasn't about fallout 76 so thats normal.
Tbf it does say pic unrelated
Managing your inventory is so painful in fo76 that it single handedly ruins the game
Inventory management while trying to stay f2p was why I quit 76. It was interesting enough and the players were actually pretty nice but hiding inventory management behind a paywall was EVIL especially for an inventory heavy game as fallout.
Even with p2p it becomes unbearable
People are mad about Nightreign, but I'm not sure why tbh? I mean yes, it's basically just a mod of Elden Ring (but you don't have to have the original game); on the other hand, it's not $60, it doesn't have micro-transactions, and I doubt it's responsible for delaying Bloodbourne 2 or whatever.
Maybe people are afraid of these experimental titles taking development time away from their bread-and-butter single player games.
Capcom had (maybe still has, ootl for a little while now) a dedicated separate team working on "spin-off" Monster Hunter titles, like Generations (Ultimate) and Rise whereas the main team focused on 4U, World, Iceborne and now Wilds. Who's to say that FromSoft doesn't do this too given that it's a different director for Nightreign - then again, it hasn't been confirmed outright, right?
You know this is fake cause FO76 has new enemy types
So does Elden Ring Nightreign.
But 25 GB.
