My grandmother said that you can tell the winter will be rough because the squirrels get fatter.

Looks like we're fucked!

Squirrel could be fat because OOP keeps putting whole avocados in their trash...

Who the fuck is out there throwing away whole avocados?

  • they aren't cheap
  • you can take the seed out and compost it if it's gone bad
  • you can germinate the seed

They aren't cheap

Only if you get them at a grocery store. This shit is so wild to me; there is a produce stand down the other end of the street where the nearest grocer is to me. The avocados at the store are almost $4 each. The produce stand in the opposite direction sells them 10 for $1!

They're both equally the same kind (hass), ripeness, and size.

Honest question: what do you do with an avocado tree grown from pit? I've got one but I don't know its sex and I don't think it would ever fruit even if it could be properly pollinated. -covering its ears- it's not even very pretty....

I wouldn't even bother unless you just wanted a tree. Avacados aren't true to seed, so the chances of getting good fruit that is the same as what you got the seed from is very slim. It's better to grow from a cutting and just clone a tree already known to produce decent fruit.
