More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Important reminder.

Since water was privatised under thatcher. The companies have sold off 30 reservoirs. Filling them for development etc.

Remember this fact every time they seek help.

When the private water needs help, tell it to ask its investors. Or have it become public. Private utilities don't work.

All of the sales of public assets have resulted in drastic reductions in services and increasing costs. The water, electricity, post, gas and more it's all just worse. The key infrastructure can't just fail making them a very bad idea to be in private hands without very strict service requirements. We badly need to elect a government that will fix what is clearly broken.

Y'all drink Thames water? That's frightening.

Every ml of water everyone in the world drinks. Has been through human waste millions of times.

Yeah the reason the water levels in the reservoirs are so low is because people are watering their plants too much that's definitely the problem. My 20 ft by 20 ft garden is definitely consuming all of the water.

I’m fairly sure water companies don’t have anything to do with issuing oil drilling and exploration licenses.

Me too. It was a statement about society in general.

Sad state of affairs that people can't assume others know water companies don't have anything to do with oil drilling and exploration licenses. The company we keep hey?
