Given elegant remote's hard work, I would prefer we focus on porting the apes themselves. The subs are going to be fucked over harder than ever when wall street gets their hands on that site, and a YouTube comment section is still hostile territory.

This is a backup forum for exodus from reddit. As of now (June 30 2023) the reddit /r/GMECanada is STILL ACTIVE but 3rd party mobile apps no longer work.

I agree, migrating the apes is key. It's tough to point them in the right direction with all the brigading rules. Are you aware of any other communities popping up outside of Reddit? I like the idea of decentralization but it definitely makes it harder to find all the communities.
I know there's a company discord https://discord.gg/gamestop but I've never really settled in with that platform very well. It feels too hectic for my old ass.
I think there was a GMEJungle discord but I'm not seeing it anymore. Maybe taken down?
We need a stronghold that won't dump us the second shit gets real. Hopefully Lemmy can be that.
I was in the jungle discord for awhile but I've never been a fan of that platform.
I'll keep an eye out for more options around the fediverse and share them here if something pops up

The syntax for linking to or finding other communities across the federated lemmy servers appears to be: [email protected] (eg., [email protected]). If you're on lemmy.ca already, just !gmecanada works for linking I think...
Great idea. the fediverse is the social media of the future that can't be subjugated by a single centralized authority with an agenda.

Edit: consensus is that reddit got a complaint about the stockholder list (the 'ledger') being released publically and some allege it was against Gamestop's own bylaws to do so, while others allege it was a federal violation of some sort of securities law. Sheesh.

Welcome! Please spread the word (via reddit DM or comments) to get apes over to the lemmyverse as a backup space. Mods from the old place could set up similarly-named communities easily, it's a 'green field' right now...
