I honestly was willing to give benefit of the doubt but quickly saw he was truly terrible. He doesn’t have the personality to be a raiders coach. He never did. That became clear REALLY quickly. I never liked the signing. The only thing they did that actually gave me hope and believe in them, was signing Adams.

The “patriot way” worked because they had Tom Brady plain and simple. Look at Belichek and McDaniels struggle without him.

When they first hired him I tried to force myself into thinking enough time had passed and people change and learn from their past mistakes. That lasted 3 games last season. I knew he was the same coach that he was in Denver when we started 0-3. I wanted him out since then.

I think a better comparison would be, his inability to access QB talent, instead picking high character guys who would religiously follow his game plan (Tebow and Hoyer), rather than reaching in the draft with Tebow and Wilson.

I am not surprised. I wasn't thrilled with the hire, but was willing to give him a shot. He was every bit as bad as was worried he would be. He was lucky he lasted as long as he did.

Most didn’t view Wilson as a reach TBH. Not a finished product, but not a reach. A lot of people had him mocked as the first DE off the board as the draft neared.

You are correct though, in that most people in life are expected to grow, mature, and change as time goes by. Josh didn't and now is out of a job (though I do wish I had his bank account) and won't get a 3rd HC opportunity.

I don’t think we give enough credit to Mcdaniels and Ziegler’s agent. He really fleeced Mark. Talked a big game and got guaranteed cash out of him. Sold them as a package deal and dispelled any concerns about being a shitty head coach in Denver. Now they’re all chillin at home and he’s like, “I told you we’d be fine.”

Considering he worked in Denver 10+ years ago and said he had learned so much from his first go around, I was hopeful that he would be able to make it work for his 2nd (and last chance).

The fact he did the same exact thing just goes to show that ego got the best of him.

Side note: Did feel for Ziegler a bit, but the more that has come out just shows he was basically McDaniels version of Mayock.

What's crazy is that he was saying all the right things at first. He said I had to take a step back and look and how I handle relationships and the personal side of things. Like he knew or at least someone told him those were huge issues, and this grown, professional, adult person went back and did the same shit. Mind boggling man

How is Wilson a reach? He was taken where he was projected to go. Arguably the best Edge Defender prospect in the class. A reach is Damon Arnette or Cle Ferrell. Projected to go later but taken way too early.

And wth the majority of this fanbase trashed Waller while he was here lol. I was shocked seeing the fake outcry for him by the same people that said he sucks, milking his injuries, and didn’t care about football anymore.

He's literally one of the worst to ever do it. There have been very few coaches worse than McDaniels in the history of the NFL. His name will forever be tainted, and I love to see it. Little shit-eating arrogant prick deserves every bit of infamy he's accumulated.

Yea the only thing that really surprised me was how quickly he moved on from carr/ Waller and renfrow despite making similar mistakes when with the donkeys. I don’t necessarily think trading Waller was a bad thing, we got a third for a type of player that tends to decline pretty rapidly once their third contract begins. BUT that doesn’t change the fact that he basically tried to remove any player leadership that questioned him like he did for the donkeys.

I don’t think his play design was bad, it was actually kind of impressive at points, however he clearly lacked the tactical ability or awareness to maximize his plays effectively and efficiently

I’m a Cards fan first. The Raiders replaced the Chargers as my second team the year both teams relocated. This is my first head coach hire.

I was so optimistic after that fun as hell year Gruden got fired. Then we hire JMD. What. The. Fuck.

Remember, I’m new to the Raiders, not the AFC West. I vividly remember his year with the Broncos. I was completely and utterly convinced when he got fired that he would never have a head coach job again.

Like he didn’t just fail as a head coach. He failed at everything. And then you look at pretty much any other time a coach from Belichick tree has gotten a shot of head coach. Oh and add the fact that the longer Belichick goes without Brady, the more evident it is that Brady carried that man.

I really cannot even begin to imagine what in the actual fuck Mark Davis was thinking when he thought Josh McDaniels was going to be the man to save this franchise. I just hope he learned something.

Yes, it surprises me that someone could be that dense. On a very basic level as humans, we need to adapt to survive. This rings true for our social and professional lives as well. However, this guy did the exact same thing that jeopardized his livelihood the first time. It's hard to feel bad for someone who is that dense/stupid. I thought after 10+ years he’d have learned where he messed up, he’d also have learned from how all the other coaches have messed up. But he never did. I don’t know who this McDaniels person you’re referring to is. Our last coach was Rich Bisaccia, before that was Jon Gruden. We are now about to return to greatness with the Pierce era. Raaaaaaiiiiiiddeeeerrrrsssss!!!!!
