This loss was expected TBH. Raiders fought hard to the end IMO. People saying O'Connell isn't the guy...... who you replacing him with?

Still proud of this team and the direction.

Who you replacing O’Connell with? Literally anyone. There will be a new head-coach and QB next season so it’s not like it matters.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

who you replacing him with?

Michael Penix Jr. Do whatever it takes to get that guy.

AOC should get the rest of the year. Regardless how he does, we should still draft a QB and let them compete.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We should trade Jimmy G, Marcus Peters and a 2035 first round pick for 4 first round picks. Use our top 2 picks on the best OL available. Pick 3 on a CB. And pick 4 on OL. Use the rest of the picks however and ride with AOC.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AP yes. O'Connell no. Go draft Jayden Daniels

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I want Bo Nix so god damn bad. Dude is like a Drew Brees clone to me, plus a better arm.

That being said, we won to many games for him to fall to us i think.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I believe in AP. I also believe Champ will get us a better QB. We have a chance to not settle at QB and I hope we take it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I believe in Champ Kelly and AP. Id rather have a defensive minded team and have a QB and OC that can make the most of it. Like the Mike Tomlin or Pete Carroll (Bill Belicheck too, but fuck the Patriots)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don't think Bo's play calling helped Aiden in multiple instances

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You draft a QB with higher upside, which a majority of the prospects have over AOC. AP has potential, but his success highly depends on the staff he assembles.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I believe in AP, he’s got the attitude and is building a culture. It’s like we found our own Dan Campbell, now AP just needs the staff around him to help him execute.

I don’t believe in Aidan at all and you don’t have to believe in him to start him.

We’re not replacing him mid season, we don’t have anyone better but that doesn’t mean we need to keep him as our starter next season. We see what he plays like down the stretch against a mixture of good and okay teams, maybe he suddenly finds his form or maybe he looks like he did today.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

yeah man I think they did great. give the rook a chance with a 3 week old playbook. Also Maxx punched a guy in the face. that was fucking awesome.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AOC had a chance to tie the game with less than 30 seconds left and threw to a receiver in the end zone. We’re not getting that with JMD and/or Jimmy G. I’m not sold on the offensive play calling but everything else was definitely acceptable.

Defense playing they ass off though!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ok. Let’s see how they face against the chiefs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Today was clearly a struggle in our run blocking scheme and perhaps AOC holding the ball too long or WR not getting the separation. And maybe a combination of all of that. Overall, AOC wasn’t terrible against a defense with a dou top tier DBs on the field. It could’ve gone a lot worse. AOC in my eyes deserves a spot in next years roster and drafting or signing another QB to compete for QB1 isn’t a bad thing IMO.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m worried about the end of first half coaching.

Not super sold on AOC, I think we should keep drafting.

Either way, inageee today was a positive.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don't. He cant throw for shit. He gets spooked easy. Can't manuever for shit. Doesn't know the ol' QB turn around to evade defenders.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We looked like shit on offense(maybe our worst game of the year tbh) and still had them on the tops for 59:30 of the game. We’re a good team who needs a starting caliber qb, bc rn we’re using a good qb2. And I hate being hard on AOC, because it’s not his fault our front office thought jimmy was the answer for 2023.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

nah worst game was def against the lions bills and the bears

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

People who say these things actually think that too three QB’s just grow on trees. AOC is good enough where if we give him a few more seconds back there he will make good reads and not rush his passes. The line on both sides of the ball need draft attention, not our QB.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AOC is a rookie. He’s honestly playing like one too lol he has his ups and downs. But he definitely kept going for the bomb way too much. He was ignoring easy check downs that were at times necessary to get the offense going.

Either way, we need a dynamic offensive coordinator and a better O-line and d-line.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

O’Connell is going to be the back up. As much as I like the dude is going to be a 1st round QB next year. It has to be

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Tons of Round 1 picks do poorly in their first year or never get good to begin with. Prime example is Zach Wilson. Aidan already looks better than Zach.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I've been saying I don't think he's the ultimate answer

He's fine for now and maybe he becomes a viable QB idk

I just think at this very moment the future QB of this team isn't on the roster

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Look at Peyton mannings rookie stats

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

All things considered, shockingly good effort today. No excuses, this game was a big missed opportunity. In the NFL, you have to take these opportunities when you can get them. In that sense, I’m disappointed in the result. Moral victories equal the same in the end; a loss.

On the flip, AP is 2-1 as a first time head coach, and doing so with a first time play caller in Bo. He’s rolling with a 4th round rookie QB. And the Raiders defense kept it close, giving the team multiple chances to stay in it. This was against a top offense, one that lit up the Donks for 70. It was a great effort.

I like AP, after that, all bets are off. AOC is so far displaying the same tendencies he has all year. I haven’t seen much improvement so far, but I haven’t seen much regression either. At this point, the rookie is who he is. Ideally, it would be nice to see him protected better. But he also holds on to the ball a bit too long. And he’s committing too many TOs to have any kind of favorable momentum. His decision making is not good, hoping I see improvement soon there too. I won’t be upset if we get a QB in the first round (especially if they can somehow get either Pennix or Caleb). Still, 6 more games, maybe my mind changes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Did you really ask who can we replace him with like someone is looking to get rid of him now? That’s your take away? Someone wants him gone now? I’d pay to see who said that… Him not being the guy isn’t saying get him outta here now… I also don’t see anyone saying the team didn’t play great. I am one person who doesn’t think Aiden is the answer. I don’t even think he’s bad. Just not a starter.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I believe in AP 100%. Coming into the freakin' NFL as a rookie head coach with a staff and playbook of someone else is near impossible. Give him a contract NOW.

AOC ain't it, and we need to take Bo Nix or Jayden Daniels in April.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Obviously draft a new qb. You all ask the who do you replace him with like we have some qb in our back pocket. Aoc is most likely a top backup

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

O’Connell isn’t the guy. AP is the coach.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What this person said

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Watching O'Connell the last two weeks gave me flashbacks of Jay Schroeder. Willing to give him a chance, but doing so will not get us into the playoffs. You guys must be seeing something I'm not

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm a greedy motherfucker. I'm watching the Mahomes/Allen/Hurts/Stroud/Lamar/etc of the league tear it up and I want that. You do not settle for 'good enough' at QB in this league anymore. Take a shot at Jayden Daniels/JJ McCarthy/Bo Nix in the first, it's a deep QB class.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I wasn’t happy with them wasting time at the end of the half, not using the 2 timeouts and settling for the FB. Play calling after that was subpar.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AOC is a rookie with a lot of potential. I think the OC has to take the blame on this one. Two problems, he kept trying those quick passes to the WR behind the line of scrimmage and they kept blowing those plays up. Second they kept fucking with Ramsey and he killed us

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The Raiders standard/goal is to not be completely embarrassing while other teams like the Chiefs is superbowls. If that’s the case then AOC makes sense

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I love how everyone keeps saying “AOC didn’t look bad” while he had almost 2 fucking quarters to score points and tie the game up with our defense consistently stopping the Dolphins offense and he went three & out or threw an interception damn near every time we got the ball in the second half.

And who are we replacing him with? A first round quarterback in this draft.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The Offense has no excuse to play that bad. We have enough playmakers but our O-line can't hold up for shit right now. Even after changing to Zone running Jacobs still running through quicksand getting hit behind the line. No good. Adams needs to go and we need to build a team that makes sense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AOC has played better than Jimmy, but I still think we need to upgrade there. Will be a lot of QBs in the draft.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Look at the best qbs in the league. They’re all mobile and can hurt ya multiple ways. We need someone who can make shit happen when the play breaks down

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Best QB available in the draft.

Next question

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

O line is pretty darn good it’s not Madden.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Wishlist: One mobile dual threat QB with a rocket arm.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Copied from an identical post, AOC is not playing good. We def need to find a QB

“We’re not moving off him this year but looking at the games he’s played so far it’s been underwhelming. He’s had two good quarters of offence and they both came against the Giants.

He is overthrowing his receivers, he is holding the ball too long and not going through his progressions quickly. He also isn’t good rolling out of the pocket.

He looked bad against the Jets and while they are a good defence their own incredibly shit offence did mean we had opportunities to wear them out (and eventually JJ broke off that big run to set up our TD play).

Today he looked lost and while I believe Miami have been a somewhat underrated defence AOC was gifted great starting field position by our defence and he didn’t do anything with it. And before you blame the play calling, once they opened the passing game up that’s when he was overthrowing balls, putting it danger and turning it over. The conservative play calling may have been to try to limit mistakes.

As for being a rookie, so? He’s 3-6 TD to INTs, that’s shit no matter when you do it. Tommy DeVito, the meme he beat, is 6-3 TD to INT and the Giants are a much worse team than we are. Tyson Bagent currently has a season completion percentage of 65.7 and 3 TD to 6 INTs. Aidan only has a 62.1 completion percentage and he has Tae to throw to. Bagent also has a better season passer rating (71.4 vs 70.6, both bad but yikes).

So no, weren’t not sleeping on him. He looks like backup come third string guy.

He’s also 25, he’s the same age as Justin Herbert, heck he’s only a year younger than Sam Darnold and he’s two years older than Brock Purdy.

We’re not going to cut him but today was the first time he played a complete team which can compete in all 3 phases.

He’s got the Chiefs twice, the Vikings (you want a diamond in the rough, Josh Dobbs), Colts (Minshew is trying to make the case he can start somewhere next season) and the chargers and donkeys. He needs to win some (half) of these games. He needs to win 5 if we’re thinking about playoffs.

These are the test games. If he looks like he did the last two weeks? We’re trading up for a QB because we’ve been shackled to mediocrity at the position for way too long.”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I could see O’Connell being a high end backup. Similarly he could get a year and a half to show what he’s got like how the Texans did with Davis Mills. I just feel like QB is so important right now because of Davante. I don’t wanna waste his time but we have to figure out the QB situation ASAP. If we know AOC isn’t it we need to draft one of these guys next year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ppl expect a lot from rookies. Like anything less then rookie of the year and breaking passing records, then he’s not the guy. Smh.
