How is linux compatibilty for stuff like that? I just always assumed blender, houdinifx, ue, etc. wouldn't have good support

The larger communities like this are more likely to have more instances to show up on their all feed

Just made it yesterday, stuff is just starting to show up more consistently, I made it so I can upload images without issue or so I thought lol. I just used the first one I was logged in on my phone, ill prob keep using this one til im done subbing to more placss, and even then swap between them in case I miss stuff

Is there any website that automatically adds a background/padding to an image when changing the aspect ratio so It doesn't crop out any content? A bit of a hassle to do for a lemmy post every time.

It's doing a 16:9 crop (exactly the same edit when checking with photo editor), is there any way to avoid this?

I self hosted an instance at is.hardlywork.ing, my images are getting cropped and losing the top and bottom 25% of the the image, leaving me a zoomed in rectangle. I tried on web browser, phone app, etc. same issue uploading any 1920x1080 photo.

Not sure if its a mobile upload to mobile site form iphone only issue

Lemmy will never have a follow system, they closed the issue on github saying it doesn't fit the vision and would be hard to implement because of the resources it would take (but if someone does it in they would add it), mbin does? Could be wrong haven't used it much due to no ios app. might eventually get an ios app that supports some hacky following list using rss feeds (still going off the github comments, idk how any of this works)

I didnt even hear the word tankie til I got here, its just other lemmy users keeping ppl away

Just started an instance so I can upload images, is.hardlywork.ing , The images I upload are screenshots of comics, they are missing the top and bottom parts of the image like 25% both ways, and the final result it uploads is zoomed in and cropped.

they cover it up well, you don't notice from within their ecosystem

It made me feel better that I was screaming into a void, no one would see it or reply, no pressure, I still wanted to say stuff, reminded me of twitter before I had hella ppl ik irl follow me, ruined it

Never tried before, want to automatically crosspost posts with locked comments to [email protected], wondering if it's even possible and what direction I need to head in. Just going off lemmy settings allowing bot accounts.

I have some programming and webdev knowledge so I'm not compeltely clueless, just fairly clueless wheen it comes to bots.

If you're tired of people locking fun threads, because they are going offtopic or comments violate that specific community's rules , crosspost them here to restart/continue the conversation.

I find it really frustrating when I'm reading an interesting thread, goto comment and I am unable to because someone decided to lock it for going offtopic. Personally, my favorite comments sections are the ones that end up going offtopic.

Still need to follow lemm.ee rules ofc.

[email protected]

Is this allowed? Feel like id be avoiding some rules by doing this on Reddit. I've always loved offtopic comment sections, people seem to lock them as they get interesting.

Come one come all to the Lemmy-verse! It's nice and cozy here, we do have some "bad parts of town" but you can do an instance block and not deal with them lol

For your memes we have [email protected] if you like sciency posts mander.xyz has some excellent communities (communities=subreddits) like [email protected] and [email protected] and for a meme science combo theres always the fantastic [email protected]

You can also drop a shit(post) off at [email protected] or hang out at [email protected] (though you do have to post before you leave that one!)

There's much more around as well!

Obligatory, fuck Spez

It worked two days ago, wanted to change my vps and domain, I reinstalled yunohost on my vps with a fresh install and now it keeps throwing an error, I tried on a seperate vps and it wont work there either. Is this an issue with yunohosts implementation that just arose recently or is there something wrong with my vps or domains? "preparing pnpm@latest for immediate acticstion... internal error cannot find matching keyid signatures"

While they're censoring people/subs, I feel like a good amount of the community isn't even aware of spez being a trump supporter and how bad the donalds presence used to be, with conservative showing up on the front page a lot and subreddits being tempbanned(new mods), it seems to be headed that way again.

Yall need to stop suggesting the niche extremist instances tho, it almost seems like you dont want ppl coming unless they fit your specific ideology when you only suggest those. Suggest general purpose ones so they get the bigger picture, they'll eventually see those niche ones and decide to join them if they fit them.

It was easy enough to do it with self hosted mastodon, cant seem to login to any of the Lemmy apps with my selfhosted website? Lemmy.rip

UPDATE: I had to renew through a setting in yunohost, not automatic, porkbun was showing it as valid and I I'm used to them grabbing it automatically or having me paste it in during setup.

Growing up I used to play aqworlds and it was super common in my online friend group at the time for everyone to host their own private servers on their own websites, once I got into the fediverse and webhosting again, I was reminded of it and it got me thinking how cool it would be to have a browser 2d mmo where people hosted their own servers.

Is there a game that implements activityhub at all? Like where server chat can be read and sent from something like mastodon.

I realize this is a stretch and something like this doesn't make sense or exist, just curious.

I setitup using Runtipi, I can login to the iphone apps with my account, message/follow myself on mastodon.social, but how do I actually federate and see other instances posts, I've never had to do it before, so I'm confused.

"Unreviewed content" just seems like a lame excuse to force people to use the app.
