I think no matter what you take a step back and see who’s available, interview everyone interested etc. There is no harm to this, frankly it would be stupid not to.
AP seems to be loved in the locker room, you don’t shake things up unless you are 100% the guy is an upgrade. Do not take any risky hires. You keep AP on until you find that guy. Do not hire someone just to hire someone.
AOC doesn’t need to be elite. He needs to be good. The raiders are in a great position right now.
Let’s assume AOC is fine. You resign Jacob’s, you then either trade your pick for Oline help or Draft Oline. Maybe throw in a DB or two. You are set.
You have Elite Receivers, an Elite Running back, top tier defense (in the box atleast). AOC just has to be good enough to not lose you games. If he is, you fill the Oline holes and DB Holes in off season. Playoffs.
It’s been his nickname since highschool. Which was before AOC the politician was relevant.
McDaniels as a short little pudgy Mario next to AOC would have been top tier
If you focus the offseason on building a stud offensive line to block for Jacobs and buy AOC a little bit more time, this team is going to be great. Another good DB wouldn’t hurt either.
A fourth round QB who won’t lose you games is a gift from god, he’s so cheap. He doesn’t need to be a God Tier. Just good enough to not lose you games on a regular basis.
