I've seen this issue come and go with our instance (usually resolved in less than a day), but also recall it being a Lemmy-wide issue, too.
A minor trick I've used since then has been to sticky any post I make in my sublemmy, then come back to it in an hour or so and unsticky if it seems to be getting 'normal' votes. The point being that for the segment of people who like checking your community directly, they can more easily see the new content, compared to those who browse FAVORITES or ALL to see same content.
I know it's not much, but it's helped me a bit during such federating outages.

She had an incredible voice. Powerful, yet warm. Kind, like a loving older sister's, and with huge range.
Now, the Carpenters' song selections were admittedly pretty tame even for the day, but if you can get over the level of cheesiness, there's a lot to appreciate about the excellence of their craft, as well as her impressive voice and phrasing.

I guess I see what you're saying, and can also admire that to some extent, yet the overall picture is still of a charlatan who not only used & abused people on a personal level, but also built an ongoing entity that does so on a continuing, organisation level from what I understand. For example, the chronic curtailing of womens' rights, including downright subjugation by higher-ranked Mormons, just to name one issue.

It's both pleasant in terms of palette, technique, and light & shadow interplay, yet strikingly depressing in terms of subject matter and claustrophobic nature.
Or for grabbing a hot chunk from the fireplace. I think in pre-electric days they'd do that to quickly heat something up or maybe light a cigar, etc.
GOOD: Someone recommended to me the other day an automated posting aid, which would be an enormous help in my being able to "drip" daily content to my sublemmy via a bot, leaving me space and time to work on longer-form posts.
BAD: A week or two ago I realised that Imgur had been dropping my content over a surprisingly short delay period (~six months), breaking likely the majority of older posts. I think I'll slowly be able to restore at least the lead images, but with something like 400 posts to get to, it's going to be a PITA, and going to take time, daggit.
GOOD: Lemm.ee's issues with not accepting image uploads (I and others still have no idea why, given that our host admin has pretty much retired from interacting with the users) have been thankfully easing off lately, allowing me to work on stuff like recovering from step 2 and restoring some whole posts here and there.
BAD: Restoring multiple images posts is... ugh, going to be a real slog that will probably never get done properly. First, because somehow I seem to have misplaced a certain amount of the original image content, second, because it takes a lot more time than simply restorying a post's lead image, and third, because lemme.ee only accepts up to 500k images (and bless 'em simply for that!), which unfortunately isn't always up to displaying full pages properly.
GOOD: There have been a few user posts recently, which is always nice to see, and gives me hope that maybe just maybe the sublemmy can be self-sustaining one day. 🙂

Btw, an article just came out by a team analyst that Dallas' analytics dept have thought for some time that Luka's impact isn't really equal to his numbers, and that it would be best to eventually trade him. Still, that doesn't seem to fit with 1) Luka just making the finals and 2) why Nico got such a pathetic return for him.
I have seen way, way more calls of direct violence and inciting violence here in the last few months on Lemmy than I ever saw in multiple years on Reddit.
What communities are you talking about? I'm subscribed to many dozens here, and I can't remember ever seeing calls for violence in the Lemmysphere.

On my end, I'm not a huge fan of republishing fixed-up posts, as it 1) adds to the overall post bloat (Lemmy doesn't allow me to completely delete anything), but also 2) because it can break cross-links in some cases.
OTOH, the greater point is for this stuff to be seen and enjoyed, and with a relatively innocuous update like this, I would guess that many readers doing quick scroll-throughs would miss the good content, assuming they hadn't seen it before. Then again, maybe I'm wrong about that...

To be honest, I'd wanted to just quickly upload one of Giancola's pieces matching a "Here at the End of All Things"* series I'd like to get started, more or less reflecting my current level of shock, deep sadness, and growing fear about what's currently happening in the States. Unfortunately, image uploads don't seem to be working here at the moment, so all that will have to wait for another day. :S

For those unfamiliar with him, he's an amateur cartoonist and an amazingly dedicated reviewer. You can read more of his comics reviews here and there.

Phang writes a surreal western right in line with Peeters' dreamy sensibilities. While it never quite coalesces into something perfectly explainable afterward, The Smell Of Starving Boys has enough points of interest along the way to satisfy many of its particular kind of audience.
In Texas, in the near aftermath of the Civil War, Oscar is a gay photographer taking a job in the wilds to avoid those he crossed both in terms of business ethics and social mores. Milton's not Milton's real name. And Stingley is a a Dave-Sims-esque utopian visionary whose vision will be built on the blood of aboriginals and women as he carves the frontier into a world that he prefers. Throw in a cadaverous bounty hunter, some exsanguinated horses, and a pile of honest-to-goodness magic and you've got a story deep in the Weird West tradition.
Peeters' artwork is stunning as usual, though the often barren landscapes give him fewer hooks on which to hang his hat. Phang's story is interesting but lurid. Maybe it's your bag and maybe not.

Switzerland's Frederik Peeters is one of the great, modern BD creators for my money. This one-shot album feels totally native to him, so I was surprised to learn that he served only as the artist, and that Laotian-French Phang Loo Hui was in fact the script-writer. I'd never heard of her before, but she seems like an extremely talented writer, interested in bringing to light the stories of various historical figures.
As for the book, I consider it can't-miss if you're a Peeters fan. Sure, it's a bit surreal, and even confounding at times, but that's pretty much par for the course. It also kind of dances with significant issues (gay rights, aboriginal rights, man's exploitation of land & resources) but was consistently observational, and not overbearing in message.
Art-wise, I felt that Peeters' designs paired wonderfully with the American southwest setting, and that his colors have evolved considerably from his work on the masterpiece Aâma sci-fi series. Of course as usual for him (despite not being officially credited on writing), there was his wry, subtle observation of how people communicate... the little pauses and slight expressions that briefly flash across their faces... how their minds brush up against each other, so to speak, and how gentleness and savagery can intermix, just below the surface of demeanor.
I'm afraid those are some poor, bumbling words to describe how great Peeters is at capturing human psychology, but if you know, you know. He's in that 'Blutch**, Grégory Mardon, and Hugo Pratt' territory, as I see it. Creators like these are so impressive to me, as they significantly raise the ceiling of "comics," bringing them to the realm of noteworthy art and literature IMO.

Man, I love our instance. Traditionally I've not wanted to burden it by doubling it as an image-host, but then again, if the instance goes down, then this sub goes down, so... yeah. There's that.
Beyond that, there's indeed a cap of 500k here per image, whereas Imgur sits at ~1,000k, and sometimes that's a critical difference. Point is, I generally upload a set of images at a time, which (in this theoretical) would usually require me to parse the content across both lemm.ee and Imgur in order to fit all content (i.e. images over 500k), which... would tend to be an utter PITA when posting. So there's also that.
All that's on top of the fact that almost every post I make requires me to reformat the images, often leaning in to upscaling tools. Again, it gets to be a right PITA...
Mateys, I really do love chatterboxing BD, and would probably be posting multiple times per day if these issues weren't such a slog, on top of dealing with this cursed disease. (CFS/ME)

Unfortunately, these cuties are critically endangered, with only ~224 currently left, living across four NZ islands. It seems that introduced predators (mainly cats, rats and weasels) almost wiped this species out, but in the mid-90's, a desperation program was launched to save them.
The kākāpō cannot fly, having relatively short wings for its size and lacking the keel on the sternum (breastbone), where the flight muscles of other birds attach. It uses its wings for balance and to break its fall when leaping from trees. Unlike many other land birds, the kākāpō can accumulate large amounts of body fat. --WP
The kākāpō has a well-developed sense of smell, which complements its nocturnal lifestyle. It can distinguish between odours while foraging, a behaviour reported in only one other parrot species. The kākāpō has a large olfactory bulb ratio (longest diameter of the olfactory bulb/longest diameter of the brain) indicating that it does, indeed, have a more developed sense of smell than other parrots.
Pretty dang interesting to me, as birds in general tend to have a poor sense of smell & taste AFAIK.
