I do not care about the in video advertisements, I can skip those it is the ads I was not getting when I was a premium subscriber.
When my smart TV was attached to the internet, because a friend helped me get it into my place she was fairly insistent on setting it up to the internet, I had no idea how much data it was sending places. I set up my first go at a pi-hole and say that a good majority of the internet signals coming and going from my place was from the TV.
Smart TV’s are not cool, I bought it to display video not spy on me and sell ads to me. I have since ditched that email address it’s only used for YouTube now. I would ditch the email entirely if the Google did not own YouTube. It breaks my buy Canadian heart that I am stuck using YouTube and Reddit, I am however trying to cut down on the groups and channels I subscribe to or pay attention to.
After my first pihole setup (I hate SD cards with a passion now), I saw what my “smartTV” was doing and I pulled it off the internet. The TV really did not like being off of the internet but I found ways around that. I have an Apple TV as my smart stuff.
I have 2 pi5’s with NVMe drives and a pi4 booting off of an external NVMe drive. Last night I thought about figuring out a way to download the youtube videos and setting up a jellyfin sever. Or breaking and getting using Firefox and attaching one of my pi5’s to the TV and just doing it that way.
If you are talking drip coffee may I suggest you move to a french press or some other way of brewing coffee? I moved to a French press years ago and never looked back, sure drip coffee is easier but it is not for me.
I am trying to kick Reddit, I get a lot of my Saskatchewan news from there and I am in a lot of groups so I can scroll and see things. What are some groups I can join here that are a good idea?
I just went on a big letter writing campaign to get politicians and the media to stop using X, I also made complaints with a few agencies to get the use of X by elected officials investigated by a few agencies. Hopefully with any luck we can see some change coming soon.
If you would like to put pressure on the elected officials I strongly encourage you do it; a few tips try your hardest to keep it to one page or less, address it, attach a pdf to the email saying what you said, and send it to all the elected officials. I have all the MP and Senator emails, and all the Saskatchewan emails if you need them.
Amazon is officially dead to me, I had uninstalled all the apps a little while ago and deleted my email address today. It however hit me that I had not signed out of the webpage, so instead of just signing out I deleted my account and wow did it feel good saying I have issues with amazon when deleting the account and being signed out.
I am transferring all of my email address; a few years back it took me months to figure out what was all going to my gmail account that was used signing up for stuff even though there was some web app I used, I was going to move away from the Google as much as possible, minus search and YouTube. Several months ago I moved away from Google search, and was stuck with YouTube as there is no real competition to it, that my favourite channels use, so I am stuck with it.
So iCloud’s hide my email was the replacement for Gmail, it was a lot easier to cancel junk mail by being able to just turn off email addresses that started spamming me. Come now to the buy Canadian stuff I am turning off all my hide my email addresses and moving some to proton pass, most of the emails so far I can just delete but many I have to go to the webpage and change the address. It is hard work and I have given myself a deadline of the end of the month when my iCloud subscription is done and dusted. Only 152 email addresses left!

I have a blog, it is mostly for me to scream into the void, I would like to believe people read it I am however fine if they do not. Since the buy Canadian stuff started happening I moved where my hosting service was, away from Wordpress.com and to hosthero.com then I moved reannlegge.com to reannlegge.ca.
The actual blog has not yet been transferred yet but I now own reannlegge.ca!
I am moving away from my apple services and to another service, unfortunately no Canadian one offered the features I wanted, or at least none that I could find so that has been moved to a service outside of the US.
So I had a TV service I rarely used, I kept it just cause I did occasionally use it to watch sports or whatever that were not easily accessible online. I was not using it much but it was worked into my budget non the less, last night when I was thinking about how I consume TV shows; I first realized I was paying YouTube (I bought an annual subscription that ends at the end of March) to watch the monologue of some late night TV shows, I thought about it and realized the Google was paying those channels for me to watch some of the show so I am going to mark them to not be suggested to me via YouTube anymore and watch them via Canadian channel apps. I then thought about giving up on them all together, I do not know if I am ready to do that yet but I am seriously considering that whaat do others think?
Then finally I thought long and hard and realized I am paying for a TV service I rarely use, and it has US channels on it so I was paying to have access to US channels that I am not using or going to use so I cancelled my TV subscription.
As someone who very rarely watches traditional TV it feels so freeing knowing I am not paying a very small price to American stations to have access to their channels. I realize the Canadian stations pay to show the American shows but I sneakily get around that by having a pihole to block ads so the Canadian channels are not making money off of me to watch US TV shows, it is like sailing the high seas without the actual plundering.
Take the dirt you have now and start doing compost depending on what you are growing in your pots check out fertilizers. I live in an apartment and rotate the soil I use every year, I will be adding fertilizers this year, you do not need to do it every year. I personally have a three bucket method first bucket is last years dirt and compost the next bucket is two years dirt rotated from the first bucket, and then the third bucket is from the second bucket but rotated.
This is the first year I will have a third year bucket so I do not know if fertilizer is really needed but I may just add the fertilizer to make me feel good about my process.
