Yeah I just hope Desbiens stays healthy but Poulin has been her usual self and Stacey is on a streak. The new girls are great too.

Still mad about Vanisova going to Ottawa but at the same time a more balanced league is probably better for the sport.

Can't wait to see what are gonna be the expansion teams!

I support the Montreal Canadiens, my team is 100% canadian owned, I watch it on canadian broadcasting, I refuse to watch it on american channels/prime.

I also support the Montreal Victoire, the Trois Rivières Lions, the Blainville Armada, The Laval Rockets, the Canadian National team etc Outside of hockey, I also support my local basketball / football teams and am looking forward to follow the Roses inaugural season

Local sports channels like TSN / RDS rely heavily on the NHL to stay viable so by saying let's drop our support for the NHL, you're also advocating hurting these channels which in turn removes cash flow from them to support smaller events.

You want to support Canadian sports, please do. Go see your local games, advocate for more air time, follow teams and share on social media but until a true contender to the NHL comes, one that banks on Canadian teams only, the NHL is where men professional hockey happens.

I don't even understand what they mean....

It's shit but it was also really bad that they had to use that. We need our own infrastructure for stuff like this.

In Quebec the Minister of Housing is a carreer realtor. It's going exactly like you would think it would. They fought against rent control, they removed safeguards and they made the housing crisis worse and they're calling it a win while blaming the bad on the Montreal mayor because she called them out on it.

I love all of those. My guess is we both are xenial women :) I don't know if it's the 40s and nostalgia hitting me like a truck but I've been listening to mostly music from my teens these days. I even created a community for xenials on lemmy.ca and a playlist that I keep updating whenever I remember songs that are missing. And I realize now that I didn't put any Tori Amos on there (shame on me 😅)

That show was so good. Sadly it's not streaming legally anywhere, at least in Canada. I had to get the Blu Ray to watch it and honestly, it holds up. I wish they didn't cancel it...

For the generation between Gen X and Millenials or anyone that's interested about it. Come share your music, memes, nostalgia or anything really.

Who are the Xenials (en.wikipedia.org)
submitted 1 month ago by UnderFreyja to c/xenials

Xennials is a portmanteau blending the words Generation X and Millennials to describe a "micro-generation" or "cross-over generation" of people whose birth years are between the mid-late 1970s and the early-mid 1980s.

Good magazine has described Xennials as "a micro-generation that serves as a bridge between the disaffection of Gen X and the blithe optimism of Millennials."

Xennials dated, and often formed ongoing relationships, pre-social media. They usually weren't on Tinder or Grindr, for their first go at dating at least. They called up their friends and the person they wanted to ask out on a landline phone, hoping that it wasn't their intended date's parent who picked up."

Basically, our childhood was internet less, we experienced the rise of internet during our teens and we learned to live with social media during our early adulthood.

We experienced the cold war, the rise of terrorism and are very aware of the impact of the west on the world. We were in college when the towers fell, we were part of the workforce when Facebook was created. We used IRC, ICQ Yahoo, Google, Netscape, Napster. Most of us didn't have a computer when we were young but started using them in High School.

We often identify with mix of Gen X and Millenials traits. We're often a a bit cynical but want to be hopeful and believe in people and society.

Obviously, generations are not fixed in stone and don't dictate who we are or how we think but as a group we often feel different than Gen X and Millenials. Our older siblings are Gen X, our younger siblings are Millenials, we're something in between.

Post your xenials playlists!

Here's one I made on Tidal because I couldn't find anything decent (suggestions welcome!) https://tidal.com/playlist/5a2e2d77-69c0-4134-9f8c-0f1e3fee221b

Trying to find a way to be able to chat at a distance with my kids when playing Minecraft together online.

I'm having a really hard time finding a privacy focused video/audio chat that isn't American or aimed at businesses.

Something like Signal would be perfect but they don't have a phone so yeah...

I tried to set up Jami but it's too difficult and it needs to be simple for them since the oldest is 10 :/

The package is basically the same as Stack TV with few additions and the ability to add Hollywood Suite.

It is owned by VMedia < Freedom Mobile < Videotron < Québecor

Not too sure why there's so many levels under Québecor but all the levels are Canadian owned and operated.
