Parents: I'm depressed. I know what will make this better, putting another person on this planet that has a great likelihood of being as depressed as I am!

The gift of life.

Why bring them onto this world then?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 20 hours ago

Oh no, is it the consequences of our actions???

[–] [email protected] 24 points 20 hours ago

Spoiler: they absolutely will reveal it. It will be hosted on a US cloud.

What the fuck @[email protected] ? What the actual fuck? Those fucks are messing with our democracy and extracting our wealth and they just want to let them off the hook to appease a fat orange with small hands?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago

We're all "others" to each other.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago

Basically you avoid it because of spoilers. But when I suggest we don't do spoilers, that's a problem. Make that make sense.

I'm curious about that. Democracy Internation has a course on how to fundraise for an ECI

Together with experts, we will discuss your most pressing questions around fundraising for a European citizens' initiative:

What are the sources of funding for an ECI? How to appraoch large-donors and how to frame your campaign? How, and in what circumstances, do you have to report funding received for an initiative?

People won't care until they are directly impacted. It won't be enough if their nan dies of a heatstroke. They have to have a heatstroke, have an inundated house, lose their belongings in a forest fire, or switch careers because there aren't any more bees in their area. And even then, once they solve their own problem (if they can), they will forget about everybody else.

Why are people so afraid of AI?

Humans have patterns and that is why they can be recognised by them. Authors have a certain writing style, their book are often about very similar things, musicians sing and act in a specific manner that makes the recognisable and few are able to truly reinvent themselves or their style. Is that a "lack of creativity"? Are they just inferior beings unable to break out of their bubble?

AI is a tool. It can be used for good, bad and everything in between. If you see it as something one should fear, loathe, or despise, that requires a meme quip as a kneejerk reaction to anybody mentioning it positively, maybe use your own reasoning to come with a thoughtful answer, or if you can't then maybe don't.

Sorry that its so long, if you dont want to read it please dont make a summary out of it and instead ignore it

Was the sass really necessary? 🙄

Posting the endgame results without marking it as NSFW or a spoiler is just rude.

We should use theseThese a spoiler sections where spoilers can be put into

It says "A passport for the internet", but I can't figure out what its selling point is. Is it for creators only? But how do users take advantage of other creators "vouching" for each other? And where is the monetisation thing? I'm a bit lost

It's clear that game developers are going to lobby this thing and hard. It can't be a "grassroots" movement anymore hoping on the support of some big names out of the kindness of their heart. It needs some "professionalisation". It can't just be "Ross and his invisible army will handle it" anymore.

  • a website with
    • a list of public names supporting the movement e.g "supported by these companies 'Game developer A', 'Game Developer B', 'Preservation Group A', 'Preservation Group B', 'X number of individuals from country A', 'Politician A', 'Politician B', yada yada yada"
    • the representatives of the movement (not just Ross, but those on the names of the initiatives and so on)
    • a "how do I get involved" section
      • ways to donate and where the money is going
      • how to join internally (a private forum or group)
      • material to spread if not on the inside like links, images, and videos
      • calls to action
      • whatever else you come up with
  • coordination and a game plan
    • who is doing what with whom and when
      • Member is talking Game Preservation company for sponsorship
      • Member is coordinating with community to have a protest in front of UK parliament on some date
      • Member is having a meeting with Members of Parliament to get support
      • and so on
    • a group of designers and artists making content for the movement
    • publicly available research to refute existing and possible claims made by lobbying groups and naysayers

Maybe organising watch parties for them would be great to show how many people care about "Stop Killing Games"

Share them here with how to contact them. It's possible that a larger voice will show that it's important.

Ross, in his video with GamersNexus mentioned that games nowadays have expiration dates. I think that's a great way of framing the issue and making it clear to gamers what should change.

Unfortunately, I do not have a good idea how to present the problem of "Games today have expiration dates" to people in a succinct manner. My image editing skills aren't good, so spamming various communities in different images to make them aware of the issue won't really work. Does anybody have ideas?
