Ads first, then subscription, then subscription with ads. 🥲

This sort of thing needs to capture social media too. And I want it in Canada too.

What kind of organization is CIRA? For-profit, non-profit, etc? How does it pay the bills?

Well depends how we go over the next little while. A particular Canadian government might be more in sync with anti-China tariffs than another. 🥲

Anyone reading - get out and vote.

This is the important insight. The absolute numbers in any poll aren't that interesting. The trends are.

You should stop discussing because what you call a straw man is a perfectly reasonable interpretation of your comment. If you don't want it to be open to interpretation, you should be more clear, rather than get mad at people taking one of the reasonable interpretations. An additional sentence at the end of that comment like "That said, the left should be worried." would likely have been enough.

Won't stop Canadian retailers from using that as a cover to raise prices. I think we learned how this works over the last few years.

I see a title about uncertainty for stocks, I open the market and I see S&P500 is in the green. 🥲

Yeah, what else would you use, Arch? 😂 It's either Debian or Ubuntu if you need the corpo support.

Yeah, it's just competent state policy.

Oof, they're already worried about the Chinese hardware.. It makes sense, I just didn't know they'd be worried yet. As I've said in another thread, if they are barred from the Chinese market Huawei and whoever else is developing AI accelerators would become competitive faster and take over the market. There's no coming back from that for NVIDIA. It's also likely that China would let Huawei sell these around the world for cheap, so NVIDIA's profits are going down anywhere Huawei isn't banned, which probably includes most of the West. This should still be a few years out though, as Huawei can't use TSMC to mass-produce and SMIC can't do EUV yet.

I'm offended by the fact that Debian is depicted as the same size as the other elephants. Offended!

No, I’m not running for leader.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said a production line at the company’s Pickering, Ont., used by plant-milk manufacturer Danone Canada, was the source of a listeria outbreak that led to three deaths between August 2023 and July 2024.

Joriki has filed for creditor production and says it plans to restructure its business.

The Joriki spokesperson said the company is exploring potential transactions that would see its facilities acquired, and which could lead to the purchasers offering former employees new jobs.

If you've been stuck on QPR1 Beta 3.1 and you're not getting an update notification without wipe, grab the AP4A.250105.002 full OTA and sideload it.

I just did on husky, installed and booted fine. I'm now on security update "January 5, 2025." and showing up to date, instead of getting threatened by a 740MB data wipe.

"The Great State of Canada is stunned as the Finance Minister resigns, or was fired, from her position by Governor Justin Trudeau,"

"Her behavior was totally toxic, and not at all conducive to making deals which are good for the very unhappy citizens of Canada," Trump continued, ending his post with: "She will not be missed!!!"

Happy Friday!

Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon is sending the labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) to the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

MacKinnon said Friday that if the board determines negotiations between the parties are at an impasse, it has been directed to order striking CUPW members back to work under the existing collective agreement until May 22, 2025.

Electric cars are not THE solution.

The Russian agencies, Tass and RIA, cited an unidentified Kremlin source on Assad and his family being given asylum in Moscow, his longtime ally and protector. The Associated Press was not immediately able to verify the reports but contacted the Kremlin for comment.

RIA also said Moscow had received guarantees from Syrian insurgents of the security of Russian military bases and diplomatic posts in Syria.

Assad reportedly left Syria early Sunday, and Syrians have been pouring into streets echoing with celebratory gunfire after a stunning rebel advance reached the capital, ending the Assad family’s 50 years of iron rule.

I've never really thought about whether the game looks the same using its Windows vs Linux renderer. I installed HL2 to check out the anniversary update and decided to try the Windows renderer on Proton. Would you look at this difference... Linux is the top one, Windows is the bottom:

Is this is a thing? Have you tried other games and seen the Windows version looking better?
