Pretty gross and classless.

I personally have policy issues with the Liberals, and a couple specific areas where I think they let us down, but this is just pure electioneering politicking that completely ignores the human beings involved. Opening up with "Justin Trudeau is a bastard man who made things worse", instead of "we may not have agreed on everything, but I do want to thank Mr Trudeau for his years of public service in office", is just flat out small and gross in my mind.

It's something PP would do, it's something Trump would do, it's not something Jack Layton would do, and it's quite frankly, not something Trudeau would do. If nothing else, the responses to his resignation have made it clear that he was the only party leader who actually had basic leadership qualities.

What the other person means is that it's extremely unprofessional. As a lifelong NDP voter I'm disgusted and disappointed with Mr Singh. Regardless of what you think of the other person, there's no need to resort to that kind of shit.

And you, you sound like a sad little pissbaby, maybe make a constructive comment if you want to sit at the table with the fucking adults.

Wow, give your head a shake. Criticism of your immaturity in response to a very valid comment on the what the leader of what's supposed to be one of Canada's left, progressive parties said....is very much not hate speech, and calling it that dilutes actual hate speech. But do go ahead and pretend to take the high road after, and I quote:

This was pretty embarrassing in my opinion. No substance, no solutions, repeating the same slop again and again. No flexibility whatsoever even if he could win material improvements for workers...

Then there's the stuff about "companies firing the bad worker" ..ugh

I'd still vote NDP if the candidate in my riding has a chance to win but boy does this guy feel like an anchor round the party's neck...

I've always felt a bit off about the current NDP leadership, overtly negative blamey messaging, conflating federal and provincial responsibilities. The party as of 2021 was keeping all of the campaign reimbursements instead of that going to the candidates. They seem to have no local presence, Tories and Liberals have door knocked and sent out information multiple times in the last year, I don't even know who my federal NDP candidate is locally. Provincially, our NDP person is super active and actually responds to me when I contact them so it's not just an NDP thing.

I really disliked that they supported bill s-210 that's the age verification bill, historically the NDP seemed to be pro privacy, disappointed at that apparent departure.

I'm seriously reconsidering voting NDP in the upcoming election. I'm registered to vote from abroad, so I don't get to vote for a good local candidate. I'll be keeping an eye on who's running the parties and see who seems like they might be better for Canada if they manage to beat wee PP...

How does that work wrt to abroad voting? Do you vote for the candidate in the last riding you resided in?

It's been a few days, and I just got an email from elections Canada, basically saying the same thing their website does. I was pondering how it actually works to my wife and she dug up this article by the CBC that goes through the why and how of it.

That's actually a really good question. And to be honest, I'm not entirely sure. Here's what the government has to say on the matter:

Once your completed application has been approved, your name will be added to the International Register of Electors. When a federal general election, a by-election or a referendum is called, Elections Canada will automatically mail you a special ballot voting kit if you are an eligible voter.

That's it. Nothing really beyond that other than who is eligible or no.

I don't find it so bad, but it's a 3-minute speech and that's with a good amount of filler material talking about how hard old people have it.

Personally I'd prefer a 90-minute speech detailing revolutionary new policy ideas that have been well-researched, honestly addressing counter-arguments to them, and convincing us that they would be effective. Very few people would actually watch such a thing I suppose, but word would get out and the reputation of the party might improve.
