Speaking from extensive experience, they cannot and most people rely on us to handle it for them.
Im leaving his comment up in order to respond but I don't want to rehash that discussion here.
The reason this decision was taken was not just this one discussion. It was because that person has too many red flags for my liking on the stuff they would defend, always juuuuust skirting the line of what is acceptable discourse here.
Of course I see your point you're trying to make , but I also think you're naive and don't understand the repercussions of what you're suggesting

As mentioned earlier we were looking for some new mods to join the team. Plenty of you applied for which I am grateful. After checking your profiles and your applications a bit, I decided to go with the following peeps

Well when one runs an instance of 1000+ mau they need to accept it's not "their house" anymore. Those that don't, quickly end up in shit storms against their communities ๐
