Thanks for asking. Same, pretty much. Everything does suck, and i've gotten used to it. Though in 4-6 years, hopefully finally i will solve it.

I've decided to stick to firefox for some time, but i don't trust mozilla anymore.

They've been enshittifying for the past few years, and this is a huge tipping point for me.

I'll take your advice, thanks

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago

Mainly that i don't want my data being sent to mozilla. But I've decided to stick to firefox for a little more, but this action from mozilla has dropped my trust in them.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it gets better for you :)

This was the context: https://lemmings.world/comment/13713743

unless it's specifically posted in a positivity-focused community

Mental health discussion doesn't have to be all positive, but telling someone they should accept abusers is completely wrong.

I've heard that librewolf struggles to keep up to date with important security updates iirc? That is pretty much the only thing holding me from using it permanently.

Seeing a lot of people recommend the same three forks, though. I'll have to try them out and see what i like best :D

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (5 children)

I honestly have no clue, personally.

I know i have to jump ship, but my choices are either chromium, or a fork of firefox, that may be slow to catch up with security / may not last.

I've got my eyes on librewolf, floorp and zen.

I'm especially watching https://ladybird.org/. A completely independent browser. But the dev has gotten himself in hot water iirc, but anything to get away from google and mozilla, i guess. Also, it's not complete.

We'll see what the future has in stock for us.

Apparently I don't have the mods account it's just verified on the app

I'm the mod. If you want to see which mods do what, https://phtn.app/ shows it all iirc.

This was the context you left out: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/38049576

A post on [email protected] of you telling someone they should accept their abusive parents. Seriously? And you think comparing yourself to their father is a good thing?

Seems like mods on certain comms just make up whatever placeholder reasoning when you don't break the rules. I thought you had to blame the victim to victim blame and my post didn't blame anyone for anything.

Really? You think you can go to a mental health community and tell victims to just accept their abusers? Read the room, man. I just inherited the community, too, so i'm not done actually revamping the rules.

I, and anybody else who had abusive parents would look at this and flat out say YDI.

I've spent months working on this program. I've long thought that "how fast can you make a FizzBuzz" would be a really interesting question for learning about high-performance programming, and when I subsequently saw this question posted on CGCC, I pretty much had to try.

This is so beautiful 🥹

A lot of people seem to be confused so to clear up: They haven't broken encryption. They are phishing using malicious QR codes.

Russia-backed hacking groups have developed techniques to compromise encrypted messaging services, including Signal, WhatsApp and Telegram, placing journalists, politicians and activists of interest to the Russian intelligence service at potential risk.

Google Threat Intelligence Group disclosed today that Russia-backed hackers had stepped up attacks on Signal Messenger accounts to access sensitive government and military communications relating to the war in Ukraine.

Analysts predict it is only a matter of time before Russia starts deploying hacking techniques against non-military Signal users and users of other encrypted messaging services, including WhatsApp and Telegram.

That code is now part of this February 2025 DirectX Shader Compiler release as they further build-out the DXIL capabilities. Developers outside of Microsoft previously reverse-engineered the hashing algorithm while now it's officially open-source. This will help in situations like those compiling shaders for DirectX outside of Windows hosts or the selective Linux binaries Microsoft has provided in the past.

Let's goo!!!!!

Andrew has been working on the piefed API for a long time and now we see its benefits! It's very close, and later we will see it being deployed to piefed.social and other instances.

I'd like to take up [email protected] since it has been inactive for a year - thanks!
