Here's an article from last year to add a little more context.

UnitedHealth uses the algorithm to "prematurely and in bad faith discontinue payment for healthcare services," the complaint said.

"This is an example of how AI is being utilized not to help people but to line the pockets of corporations and their shareholders," Clarkson said.

When these coverage denials are appealed to federal administrative law judges, about 90% are reversed, the complaint said, demonstrating the "blatant inaccuracy" of the algorithm. Only a tiny fraction of patients appeal the denials at all, Clarkson said.

Also, UnitedHealth said they stopped using the algorithm, turns out they just renamed it and are now using it to deny or reduce mental health treatments. How UnitedHealth’s Playbook for Limiting Mental Health Coverage Puts Countless Americans’ Treatment at Risk

The federal judge presiding over the church’s bankruptcy, Meredith Grabill, at one point ruled that the seal on case-related information was so sacrosanct that it could not be lifted even with respect to Hecker and his potential crimes. In reaching that decision, Grabill said she intended to “destroy any [sealed] information that this court received” while litigating the issue about whether Hecker deserved to benefit from the bankruptcy’s secrecy.

What the actual hell is wrong with people?! Let's not forget that the Southern Baptist Church released an incomplete list of its child abusing priests. Incomplete not because they didn't know names, but because it wanted to protect them.

And conservatives say LGBT+ people are groomers and abusers. Never let them forget who the real predators are, where are they more likely to stay hidden and be protected.

Ha! My friend did this yesterday with their new partner who had never seen the movies.

The DEA is committed to executing our mission with integrity and professionalism at every turn.

I might believe them if they weren't stealing people's money.

Fuck the government in general, and the DEA in particular, for stealing more than non-government thieves. And fuck the Supreme Court for ruling civil asset forfeiture (theft by the government done without conviction or even criminal charges) as constitutional.

It's about damn time they stopped stealing people's money based only on information from TSA and airport staff regarding last minute ticket purchases. It's not illegal to buy tickets last minute. It's not illegal to fly domestically with any amount of cash. I hope they get sued to hell and back again.

I'm right there with you, but I am preparing for the worst case by moving to a blue state and near the border with Mexico. If things go south, I can go south and stay with relatives for a while.

Well, I'm putting HI New York City Hostel on my don't ever support list. I love visiting NYC and they're never getting a dollar out of me now.

I like to call them anti-choice. Anti-family planning. Anti-freedom. Anti-healthcare or anti-medicine. Anti-women. If they insist on having the pro or for label, they're pro-forced birth or forced-birthers.

“Sgt. Gibson followed his de-escalation training and protocol when assaulted.” Holy hell, the Fraternity of Police are comparing a light tap to a Rodney King style beating. This wuss is softer than I am and I'm as soft as marshmallows.

Here's a link to the YouTube video, video starts at 3:59, and one forPiped.

Anyone taking bets on who he'll blame and fire first when his (and conservatives) economic, social, and geopolitical plans tank the country? I'm betting on Musk getting the boot first before any of that happens, it's hard to imagine two egotistical dumbasses working together for very long. But, after that? Kevin Hassett who's going to lead the National Economic Council.

Trump supporters in a couple of years: “He’s not hurting the people he needs to be”

They'll say it not knowing, or believing, conservatives are hurting the people they see the need to hurt which are 90-something percent of people in this country.

Article about that time they said exactly this

I know the feelings of the subjects of the article all too well. I was promoted to mid level manager for a year and hated it. I'll never do it again. I'm quite happy to stay a lowly peon in the organization and make less money. The extra pay just ain't worth the additional responsibilities, hours, and stress.

It's like they didn't learn a goddamn thing from the 70s and the better, cheaper, more fuel efficient cars imported from Japan.
