My dad is always stunned that I never really got into GoT. I tuned in for a couple of seasons at the beginning, but life just got too busy for these kinds of big shows.

Voyager might be maintained by a single person, but let’s not fool ourselves who created it. Voyager is a direct clone of Christian Selig’s Apollo for Reddit.

I love Voyager as much as the next Lemming, but I’ll be damned if credit isn’t given where credit is due.

“Pierre Poilievre supporters do not believe the polls,” The Pleb told his followers on April 9. “We believe the crowds.”

If it was up to the mob, they’d choose Barabbas.

There is a kind of shame worse than being fired when you’ve been shown a corporate mercy for fucking up.

So delete all pharmaceutical IP to make drugs accessible to everyone and save taxpayers trillions?

Paul said the idea to question the polls started around a coffee table with a small group of Poilievre supporters. He said they plan to travel across the country starting Thursday to conduct their own live polls from rallies since they believe there is a disconnect between the momentum that they say they're witnessing on the ground and the results in public opinion surveys.

It’s like they think they’re at a hockey game expecting to see people in visitor jerseys.

I started watching Avenue 5 last week because I read on tvdb that the series had ended. Not for a moment did I consider the possibility that the show was cancelled. It’s probably for the best anyway because the show was actually starting to irritate me by the second season.

Judging by the faded colours, they probably cheaped out on the print as well.

SNW is the breath of fresh air that restored my faith in the franchise.

[…] the Retroid Pocket Classic has been introduced. This will mark the first vertical handheld that Retroid has released since the original Pocket back in 2020.

Coming as little surprise, Retroid didn’t share anything regarding specs, but it did share all seven colors that the Classic will come in. Front and center is yellow, featuring a deep purple D-pad, and while the X+Y buttons match the rest of the shell, the A+B buttons are green and red, respectively.

As for the rest of the colors, we’ll have a DMG colorway, transparent purple, pink, teal, lime green, and what appears to be a lighter version of what the DMG has. From there, the Pocket Classic sports a front-firing speaker, to go along with the Start, Select, and Menu buttons. Curiously enough, none of those three buttons are actually centered, and we don’t have any idea why this would be the case.

The Rideau Canal Skateway will reopen to skaters between Rideau and Bank streets at 8 a.m. Sunday, the National Capital Commission says.

Temperatures in Ottawa are expected to remain below freezing until Tuesday, when they could rise slightly above zero, according to Environment Canada.

No injuries reported, Slater Street closed between Bank and O'Connor

Parts of three floors and the west wall seem to have fallen or been removed from a downtown Ottawa parking garage overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 caller noticed damage to a column on one of the pillars in the parking garage that spans from Slater Street to Laurier Avenue W. just west of O'Connor Street, Ottawa Fire Services said in a news release.

By 7 a.m. Wednesday, a piece of the upper west side wall was lying on the ground.

Ottawa police have now closed Slater Street between Bank and O'Connor streets, plus the north side Laurier sidewalk.

They had earlier said vehicles parked inside the parkade cannot be moved until further notice.

On Animation announced this afternoon on Linkedin that it was shutting down permanently. In a letter, the studio wrote:

Amid the changes in our industry, ON Animation Studios is ceasing its activities.

It is sad to say goodbye to a team as incredible, talented, and skilled as ours. We will deeply miss the joy and excitement of creating outstanding films alongside such remarkable people and partners.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to do what we love for so many years while remaining true to ourselves. The way we shared, learned, and grew together, and the respect and care we showed one another, were as essential as the stories we told and the values they embodied.

This is our commitment to a brighter future — not only for the children who cherish our films but for everyone who works in this extraordinary industry, along with their loved ones who have shared in this journey.

Though we cannot name each person who played a vital role in making this adventure possible, you know who you are, and for that, we thank you from the heart.

We leave behind a testament to our work and the promise that we still want to do more.

Keep on keeping on

In an ominous sign for visual effects artists, Technicolor, […] could begin shutting its doors as early as Monday, according to multiple sources.

On Friday, Technicolor began alerting customers and employees, sending U.S. employees a WARN notice as required by law for large companies that anticipate closings and mass layoffs. A total shutdown of MPC and Technicolor’s operations would affect thousands of visual effects workers.

[…] Despite exhaustive efforts — including restructuring initiatives, discussions with potential investors, and exploring acquisition opportunities — we have been unable to secure a viable path forward. Unfortunately, this leaves us with no alternative but to acknowledge that the Company may be forced to foreclose.” Another portion reads, “If no viable solution is found, we may be required to cease our U.S. operations as early as Monday, February 24, 2025.”

Technicolor — the iconic century-old film tech brand – has experienced several restructurings and management changes in recent years and following its filing for chapter 15 bankruptcy protection in 2020.

The FAO’s report is out. Its topline finding is that Ontario is set to spend $11.7 million to run 9 Service Ontario branches in Staples Canada stores over the next three years – that’s about $1.5 million more than the estimate the government provided the public last year.

You can find the full report here, if you'd like to read it for yourself.

Happy new year to you all! Party on and ride home safely!

From the frustrations of waiting for a bus that never comes in the suburbs of Ottawa (Riverside South) I went down a rabbit hole of exploring the OC Transpo system, specifically what is causing late busses, why has service gotten so bad, the disastrous line 1 LRT project, and what we can expect in future.

Loose iPhone 15 series USB-C port? (self.apple_enthusiast)
submitted 5 months ago by veeesix to c/[email protected]

Anyone with an iPhone 15 series device find their USB-C port to be loose? When I have it plugged in the car for CarPlay my cable frequently pops out if I nudge it accidentally. I’ve tried different brands of cables, and all of them wiggle loose eventually.

For context I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro.
