Just recently purchased a new SVS PB 3000 and was testing it out with the Oppenheimer 4K blu ray. I noticed a popping sound occurring during the opening scene and was wondering if the sub was chuffing. It goes away if I lower the volume but I don’t feel I’m pushing the sub to it’s limits or anything. The sound occurs about halfway in the linked video all the other sounds are the walls shaking (which I don’t mind :))

Settings : Denon X1800H Audyssey On Dynamic eq off Dynamic Volume off AVR Sub trim -8.0 dB SVS App volume -10 dB Receiver volume -9 dB

I my main questions are is this chuffing and if so is this normal at these levels ? Perhaps this scene is just super bassy.

I just bought a house that has speakers run to most common rooms. They terminate into a common area in the basement. What should I do to make this actually work? I'd like to be able to airplay / chromecast music... 2 "zones" would be nice, but that is about it.

Do I buy a standard AVR with built in chromecast / airplay and plug them all in or is there a better purpose device? Each room only has one speaker so it would be "mono" in each room?

I had a 100W subwoofer amp that died, and the shop quoted me $600 to replace it. I'm not in a position for that, looking for a recommendation of something that can get the job done.

Hi, I have a Roku TCL TV connected to surround sound speakers through the Sony STR-DH790 7.2-ch Surround Sound Home Theater AV Receiver. I want to have a karaoke party in my house and use YouTube Karaoke videos and have people sing into mics. Looking to spend less than $50. Is there a karaoke system that will integrate with my existing surround sound receiver and speakers? Ideally, I would like the karaoke music from YouTube, and the singers voice to both be playing from our surround sound speakers. However, if that is not possible, I am also open to systems where the music is playing from the surround sound speakers, and the singing is playing from a separate speaker connected to the mics.

Hi everyone, my current setup consists of a Pioneer VSX-530-K AVR and a 2.1 sound system (KEF Q100 bookshelf L/R speakers and BIC America H-100II 12-inch subwoofer) with the inputs listed below. I've been using this system for about 7 years or so. Over the next year I'm planning on upgrading my TV and getting a PS5. I'm also considering moving to a 3.1 sound system, but don't foresee implementing surround sound in our current house where the entertainment center is. My few questions are below.

Current inputs:

  • PS4 Pro (upgrading to PS5 within the next year)
  • Nintendo Switch
  • U-Turn Orbit record player
  • Chromecast (may not need if built into new TV)
  • Steam Deck / laptop

Questions:

  1. Which AVR would you recommend for these inputs (especially the PS5)? Based on my research it seems like the Denon AVR-S760H is probably my best bet as a budget-friendly option (currently $330 refurbished on accessories4less including 3 year warranty). Is there a better option for me to consider for the AVR? I think Costco sells these too, does the price get much better from what you have seen?
  2. I've read that the KEF Q150 functions well as a center speaker and it seems like a logical choice with my Q100 L/R. accessories4less has a Q150 single for sale for $200 and I'm really considering that. Any thoughts?
  3. The TV I'm leaning toward is a 65" Sony X90CL at Costco. Hoping for a sale dropping it to $999 over the next few months (currently $1,099 for Super Bowl sales). I'm mostly interested in the question about the AVR, but open to hearing any thoughts on the TV as well.

Thank you! Located in the U.S.

I just got the notification that the lamp in my 5050UBe needs to be replaced. Epson wants $330 for it. Anyone know of a reputable site where I can get a replacement for less?

I originally ordered the 77” S90C because the deal was too good to pass up ($2,000) and my local store is offering the G3 for $2,850. I’d also need to pay an extra $50-$100 for a stand.

My use case is streaming shows on my Apple TV, gaming on my Xbox, and watching movies.

I’m just not sure if it’s worth the extra $1,000 after taxes.

But I’m reconsidering the S90C because a lot of complaints on this subreddit about Samsung quality.

Should I cancel my order?

I tried posting this to r/LGOLED but I haven’t gotten any responses so hopefully this is relevant here.

I recently purchased an LG OLED 83C3 for my theater room, which is still a work in progress. In our theater room, there is an AVR/media port which connects to the TV. Previously I was using an older Vizio TV (model M80-C3) and the Xbox worked fine while connected to this media port but whenever I try to connect the Xbox to the LG through this media port, it will detect the Xbox but it will only display a black screen.

Now the weird part is, if I connect the Xbox DIRECTLY into the TV (as in not connected through the media port) I have no issues at all.

I have verified all the HDMI cables work and I have tried multiple HDMI ports as well as restarting the TV and the Xbox. So I’m curious if it’s something to do with the media port or if it’s a settings issues with either the Xbox or the TV?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

OK all, not a total moron but struggling with this how-to.

Running an Epson 2350 projector. It's connected to the receiver using hdmi for eARC. The projector only has 1 hdmi input.

I also have a ps5 that I'd like to run thru the projector but also include the surround sound. Currently, I only know to unplug the hdmi cable connected to the receiver, plug in the ps5 hdmi cable, and that works but audio only from the projector.

Also, it requires me to plug/unplug each hdmi cable to switch inputs/outputs.

How can I:

  1. Keep both plugged in 24/7
  2. By keeping both plugged in, enjoy the surround sound using the receiver?

Thanks! (and maybe your answers will help me understand I am a total moron) :)

I have Polk R100 and R300.

Considering in wall for surround.

Polk recommended V85 or V65. Priced well at accessories 4 less.

Anything else I should consider? Currently have older speakers on ugly stands …

Speak up if you think in wall suck ass and I will hate life.

Thanks.

I have this room:

I'd like to make it a multi-purpose man cave, if you will:

  • Theater space at the end of the room north of the dormers (ish)
  • Home office/gaming desk
  • Misc. electronics (3D printing, electronics workbench, VR gaming)
  • Possibly a horizontal murphy bed on the south wall, left of the door disguised as a nice cabinet.

I'd like to figure out how big of a TV or projector screen I could pull off on that wall that would be high enough, not too low, etc.

Hey guys,

I'm new here so I'm sorry if this isn't kosher, but I just recently moved into a house with an odd living room layout (see picture diagram). I am looking to expand the current 2.1 system I have right now to 3.1 or 5.1 (or more if it seems possible).

Current setup: 2x Hand-me-down Mitsubishi SS-4100 and a RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII connected to an Onkyo TX-NR7100 and LG C3 OLED TV

My issue currently is finding a center-channel speaker that goes well with these L/R channel speakers that I can't find much info about online that's more than the sticker on the back (picture attached), as I've been reading you want a center that's similar to your existing setup, and where I can place any surround speakers I want to expand into. A side-left channel I can mount onto the wall and work with, but find a good place for the side-right speaker is more of a challenge given that I have a recliner to work around as well. The furniture itself in the house is nowhere finalized but the placements for the most part are.

For the side right surround, would ceiling mounting the speaker and pointing down to the couch be acceptable if the side left surround is lower mounted?

I am currently looking into getting an SVS Prime Center Speaker to start with and expand from here, but I am unsure if there will be too much contrast with the Mitsubishi speakers I've been given.

I'm trying to build a budget HT while staying at or below $3000.

Here's what I came up with:

  • Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR7100 $700
  • Sub: SVS PB-1000 Pro $800
  • Center: SVS Ultra Center $800
  • Fronts, Surrounds: KEF Q150 2 x $350 = $700

Would you change anything?

So I just purchased a pair of Sony CS5 bookshelf speakers, and a Sony DH590 receiver and I’m loving it so far. The sound is incredible compared to any soundbars I’ve tried in the past.

The only issue that I’m coming across is that the background sounds only really come up when I crank the volume. Whereas when I switch it back to the TV speakers I can hear it fine.

For example, it happened when I was watching a movie, and 2 people were standing on the front porch at night talking and I couldn’t hear the crickets chirping or the ambient noise in the background when using the Sony setup. But on the TV speakers it was fine.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Currently I have the Klipsch rp-8060FA as mains, rp-504C center and rp-502S as surrounds. The atmos effects on the front 8060fa is so good that I want to get this in the back as well.

Dolby recommends direct firing and my current rp-502s is bipole and not atmos enabled.

Would the RP-6000F + RP-500SA placed on top (as surrounds) be: 1.better for atmos specs and 2. Compliment the 8060fa? Any other better options for the reasr?

I would like some opinions on the following options. I am making a 3.1 system and I want the best movie watching experience. I have learned from my research that the center and the sub are the most important things for movie watching experience. Keep in mind that I live in Canada so many brands are much more expensive here compared to the US.

Option 1: Paradigm

| | Model | Cost (CAD) | Comment | |

|

|

|

| | LR | Monitor SE Atom | $300 | Amazon | | C | Monitor SE 2000C | $220 | Amazon | | Sub | RSL 10s Mk ii | $650 | RSL store ship to Can | | Total | | $1,170 | |

According to my research Paradigm is the best bang for the buck for Canadians. It is "laid back" and not as detailed as Kef or other alternatives, but still good.

Option 2: Kef

| | Model | Cost (CAD) | Comment | |

|

|

|

| | LR | Q150 | $500/$300 | Amazon/Kijiji | | C | Q650C | $650 | Amazon | | Sub | RSL 10s Mk ii | $650 | RSL store ship to Can | | Total | | $1,800 | |

According to my research Kef is neutral and good detail. It can be a bit harsh for some on the high end, but not a major issue. The Q150 could be a problem when matching with the 650C, Q350 may be more suitable but is $200 more.

Option 3: Klipsch

| | Model | Cost (CAD) | Comment | |

|

|

|

| | LR | RP-8000f ii (pair) | $1,150 | Getting amazing deal from family friend | | C | RP 500C i | $250 | Kijiji | | Sub | RSL 10s Mk ii | $650 | RSL store ship to Can | | Total | | $2,050 | |

According to my research, they are very good speakers but still bright. Great for listening to music but maybe not the best for watching movies when compared to alternatives like the Kef Q750 and Q950.

I visited a local store and listened to all these speakers. It is hard to tell because the Klipsch being a tower speaker definitely adds to the bass. I compared the Paradigm and Kef with the Klipsch RP-500M thinking that it would help me compare apples with apples. In that comparison, I played movie trailers and honestly found the RP-500M to be the worst of the 3, especially for vocals. Playing the same trailer on the RP-8000f ii was far superior (vocals still on the brighter side).

This is a system that I will likely keep for at least 5 years and only make minor changes if needed. I want to have the best movie watching experience and given that I am going to be adding a good subwoofer, is the RP-8000f ii still going to perform better? Will the better Kef center channel make it a better movie watching experience compared to the Klipsch?

While trying to assemble the Chief elite mount (), I open these 4 screws (purple arrows) in the base plate and a spring (red arrow) falls out.

I have spent couple of hours trying to see where to put this spring back and also scanned the manual but I am unable to see how to put it back. It does still seem to work even without this spring though. I'm a bit scared since I need to mount the giant Epson LS11000.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
