World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

So are you gonna plow through them? Sounds like a sane response to being late for work.
And if you care about the climate I have bad news - we would already be on the same side, but you only care up to the point that it will impact you personally, and that is why you suck.
We would already be on the same side, but you're more focused on "making Jaywalking a Felony".
JSO does not stand for "Just Stop (everyone except) Oil".
You wish you could murder people for making you late. That tells us all everything we need to know about you and what kind of person you are.
👍
You wish you could murder people who inconvenience you?
...well...i mean....yeah
You are a terrible person, on the inside
As we can see, on the outside too.
No, i think I don't like to be inconvenienced that's what.
That is a good definition of a horrible person.
You're the poster child for the banality of evil.
👍
💩🍦😋🫵
I hope you experience flooding and fires.
And you think its normal to wish you could murder people without consequence?
I feel a lot of people held up in traffic by these protests have that wish. So even if not normal, it's common.
Do you mean jokingly or legitimately? I dont think it would be even 1 out of 100 that legitimately is contending with homicidal fantasies when stuck in traffic before school or work.
Go to anger management classes before you murder someone.
It is not acceptable to wish committing vehicular manslaughter against people who slightly annoy you.
What about Steve at the office? That guy REALLY annoys me. Is he fair game?
Anger management classes focus on directing anger appropriately, as opposed to lashing out against others.
JSO's anger at the oil industry does not justify taking action against the general public.
Quick anger management lesson for you: direct that anger at a car dealership that doesn't have any electric vehicles on the lot.
Not at random people going about their business.
There is a reason for the difference between how society has reacted to school shooters vs Luigi.
Electric vehicles aren't any sort of solution.
EVs aren't a solution to any sort of problem that you know of or care about.
I own an EV, and bicycles. I sacrificed much battling climate change, even starting a business towards my goals. Refusing much higher paid employment opportunities. I think you misinterpreted my comment entirely.
Then I would ask you to clarify your comment. If EVs aren't any sort of solution, it doesn't make any sense for you to own one.
The problem with cars isn't solely because of the internal combustion engine. Replacing ICE cars with EV's doesn't solve the problems associated with the infrastructure and city planning we've built around cars.
EV's aren't the solution. Trains are.
I have no interest in urban planning. Trains are not a feasible option for me, as the overwhelming majority of my destinations are located in areas without sufficient population density to justify rail infrastructure.
We share only the environmental concerns, not your social preference for public transit.
Er... the strategies given to people to manage their own emotional state don't exactly translate to, you know, anything else. You gotta know that.
You are a fucking joke. Full stop.
👍
Is this dude a cunt? His comments got removed
He said that it was an appropriate response to drive through protesters on a road because he might be late for work. And then doubled down on that being a normal response to being inconvenienced.
Run of the mill conservative energy.
Yeah sounds like a rat bastard with no empathy, thanks
