If the government's stance is so well based in fact and authority ... then it shouldn't be afraid of any kind of criticism or debate from any side. The fact that they just remove any dissent goes to show how weak and dishonest everything is.

The thing is .... if the government is so sure of their actions, beliefs and rhetoric, than any criticism shouldn't matter to them. Their arguments and statements should be so sure and based on fact that there would be no strong argument against them.

But the fact that they can't take any criticism means that everything they're planning on doing is based on very undemocratic and illegitimate reasons that they have a very hard time defending.

Thanks Ontario for voting away our democratic right to dissent and disagree.

We northerners and native communities are the first to lose out .... but eventually, everyone everywhere in Ontario will lose.

I'm touching on something else. That even if we voted for someone less autocratic, if this is how the system works, the only thing stopping them from doing the same is them... being less autocratic. I think that's a problem with our democratic system itself. And I think the solution is to make that much more difficult, not merely try to choose better behaved reps. I know I'm not saying anything new here, as we've discussed the same problem in the context of the electoral system. Just another facet I guess.
