Does it make you a war criminal if you simply agree with war crimes that others have committed?

Bit of a wide reach to call her a war criminal, no matter if you agree or disagree with her position.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 6 days ago

If Joe Bloggs next door agrees with war crimes, he’s just an arsehole.

If the head of the United Nations General Assembly agrees with war crimes, I think there’s a case to be made…

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 days ago

IMO I does if you are in a position of power like this.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Does it make you a war criminal if you actively defend the people committing war crimes while helping to send them weapons?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Actively defend them? No it doesn't.

Sending weapons? At the very least you're an accessory to it, so I'd agree with that.

[–] dubyakay 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What? Actively defending war criminals makes you complicit.

[–] rbesfe 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Actively defending a murderer doesn't make one a murderer

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It makes you complicit, as the other person said.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Man there's thousands of people that murdered Brian Thompson then, huh

Last I checked most people supporting Luigi aren't international leaders in positions of power, nor is he committing war crimes. So the situation of a leader in the UN defending Israel's war crimes and genocide is a far cry from the people oppressed by UHC and their kind being happy that Luigi took down one of the oppressors.

I'm not looking back on this thread at the moment, but iirc this is the one that made the distinction of her being a person of power. If it's not, then I guess ignore what I said or consider it in the context that the main issue to me and others is that she is a person who has direct power to enable Israel's reign of terror over Palestine. Making her complicit in the genocide.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 days ago

It is still considered complicity in violating humanitarian law.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the agreement with war crimes make you a sympathizer? The act of being a sympathizer is deplorable, but not illegal. I feel like a lot of people take their name-calling to the extremes these days.

Nuance left the building a long time ago.

[–] Bo7a 4 points 6 days ago

And nuance left the door wide open for pedantry and contrarianism to come in and set up camp.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Exactly my point but I guess I need to "listen to myself".

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Exactly my point but I guess I need to “listen to myself”.

Yeah, you fucking do. You're like "But is openly agreeing with genocide really a bad thing?" Like that isn't gross as hell.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Please work on your reading comprehension. That is not at all what I am asking. What I am asking is, if that is already making you a war criminal in contrast to simply a bad person. If you don't see the difference in that, I cannot help you.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

That is not at all what I am asking.

Your question was hair splitting in defense of a genocide supporting piece of shit. You just phrased it as a question.

Please work on your reading comprehension.

You need to quit gaslighting people for pointing out the only thing you're about.

If you don’t see the difference in that, I cannot help you.

You're only here to help genocide supporters.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Genocide supporting piece of shit, you are saying it yourself! You are not calling her a war criminal either, and that's the point here but you are not grasping that, so that's it from my end. Have a good life with your attitude.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

I'm saying that at some point, you quit splitting hairs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You understand that that's just pedantry though?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago

Pedantry in defense of genocide is the gold standard of centrist advocacy.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I agree that Hitler should have been assassinated. Therefore, I am as much of a hero as those who tried.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 days ago (2 children)

The assassination attempts failed, does that make you a failure ? 🤔

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago

I ... oh. Hey! Ow.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

One succeeded, but you probably don't want people to feel the same way about you as they felt about the guy who killed Hitler...

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 days ago

If you enable it, maybe, kinda. Something close at least.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 days ago

Does it make you a war criminal if you simply agree with war crimes that others have committed?

Jesus, dude. Listen to yourself.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

However, persecution is an international crime against humanity, so if someone wanted to, they could make a case against her at the International Crime Court.
