I wonder if this title will ever be false in my lifetime.

Probably. Although we are trending upwards in a super scary way, this was an El Niño year, so it will likely drop a bit for a couple years.

(That being said, we should not marginalize the dangerous nature of the global increase in temperature in any way… we really need to fix this now.)

I believe this year is also supposed to be an El Niño year, at least until June.

This stronger and longer El Niño is something that concerns me. Will it ever stop or will we enter a phase where it just keeps pumping up?

Remember, El Niño usually has the worst effects a year after. So we're probably in for a fun 2024.

Good news is we'll run out of gas by 2050?.... ?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah 2050s is what I've read, and in the US we have about 5 yrs of oil in our reserves.

This is an isolated incident, like mass shootings and police violence. I'm sure next year will be much cooler.

Line goes up!

Instead of long cold winters and short summers, we will have long comfortable summers...with... 3 months of a hellish draught filled firey landscape??

Sounds very very wrong.

draught

Drought? Though I suppose it could be draughty too.

Here in the midwest, 2 days before christmas, I didn't even need a god damn hoodie outside. Was nice and comfortable in my t shirt. Hell today it hit fucking SEVENTY THREE.

It's fuckin 80 right now in Nebraska, where I live. We are screwed.

Hottest 12 month period...so far...

Back in the 90's, people used to do ice fishing in mid-March. Now it is barely possible to do in mid-February.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Back in the forever it was like that.

At least the billionaire fucks who refuse to correct course will burn with the rest of us. To the far right shit for brains who want to take over everything, even if you get your way, you burn. We have entered the end. It's going to happen more and more rapidly now; things will start truly collapsing in the next decade.

Hope the stupid fucking money game we invented was worth it. Turned out, it really was the root of a great deal of evil. I'm glad it'll disappear entirely when we do at least.

Well they made some extra money, makes sense thousands of people now need to live in inhumane conditions

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Thousands? Lowball there, pal.
