Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend [email protected] for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

I'm a guy and this'll be my only comment here but am wishing you the best! Always nice to see spaces for women.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 4 months ago

Thanks mate! I'm so happy to see these supportive comments from men I didn't expect it! Really appreciated

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

Same! Best wishes with this new community @[email protected]!

Awhile ago, someone made a post listing communities targeted at women. All of the communities are now dead, since the poster listed only kbin.social communities and kbin.social went down. I did continue a community listed there at [email protected], but I do not know about if the other communities have been recreated on other instances. However, the reason I bring this up is because I think it might be useful to have a similar post here. Grow the Fediverse and all that.

Disclaimer: am woman

Good idea, women should support other women

Alright, went looking for active versions of the communities listed in that post.

  • [email protected] exists but is very dead
  • [email protected], but a lot of people have issues with lemmy.ml. I try to avoid it personally.
  • There are several Animal Crossing communities. The most recently active one I found is: [email protected]. There is also [email protected] and [email protected], both dead. There are a few more but with nowhere near as big a following.
  • And of course, [email protected], active, run by me (games about romancing dudes, aimed at women, community also currently allows amare games which are romance games aimed at a more diverse audience due to how they can overlap and how tiny Fedi is for otome and amare)

I also submit some communities for interests traditionally considered feminine, though I realize not all women would participate in these and other genders participate too. All are active unless mentioned otherwise.

If women post about these things here I highly encourage them to crosspost to the hobby community too. I am definitely not the only woman who isn't following this community. I don't plan to engage here aside from these two comments. (Nothing against you or other women, I don't hold "there is no patriarchy" beliefs, but this community does allow discussion on more depressing topics than I want to engage with on my online funtime, such as patriarchy and probably sexism.) I hope this proves a fruitful and fun place for the women who do subscribe to the community :) good luck!

[email protected] is under new management. It's a really positive and interesting group of posters with an interest in witchcraft, supporting women and feminism.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

That's a great list thanks 😊

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

!52weeksofbaking is dead but [email protected] is still struggling for life. Thanks for the mention.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Would this be welcome too: women venting about their partners, talking about medical problems/conditions women have (even sex-related), birth control, bras and how they fit, parenthood, etc.? Just getting a feel for the place.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

100% whatever women want to talk about is ok (although obviously no hating on groups, we're trans inclusive etc). Women's voices on all topics are welcome 😊

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Are bra makers a group? Wouldn't mind hating on them a bit ...

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

do you mind men participating as long as they don't center the space on themselves, or do you not want them to participate at all?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Thanks for asking, it's really decent of you. For now it's women only (although I really value positive men like you)

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Good luck with this community, it looks really promising!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

Thanks Blaze! Love supportive men ❤️

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Does this extend to reading/joining the community without posting liking etc. As well or is reading okay?

I know one can't really enforce this but I would like to respect it if you say men shouldnt be here and read.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago

I'm honestly blown away by you asking, it's really respectful. You're welcome to read, only if women did ask for it to be more locked down, that might change. But liking and reading is fine 🙂

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

of course, thank you for the kind answer 😁 hope to see things take off here

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

Thanks mate... feel free to spread the word!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if an /r/AskWomen type community would work for a place for men who wish to participate?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

It's definitely worth a go... if it doesn't work out it doesn't really matter. Do you know anyone that would set one up?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Anyone under the trans umbrella (eg non binary) is welcome

Just noticed this now and just want to say, it's very cool of you to include NB people. While I currently fall somewhere under that banner, I'm also my biggest doubter and harshest bully so I probably still wouldn't feel right participating but at least I can feel better about reading and upvoting things.

Thanks for making quite a big difference to this place, btw. Before you came along, the landscape here as far as women-centric stuff goes looked particularly bleak and gave me the impression that there had even been hostility towards any women's spaces that tried to exist here (which also means that the decision to limit participation here was the right call to start this place off).

But not just that, even just posting random inconsequential questions goes a long way to making this place more alive and friendly. Makes me realise that this place doesn't need millions of users, it just needs a few more users like you that make a noticeable splash and difference. So I hope you keep it up lol. And thanks for helping make this place worth sticking around in.

Mate that's such a kind thing to say, thanks for taking the time to write it out! It's a really good bunch here which makes it easy. And it's ok that you're not ready to post, whenever you are we're ready to chat with you ❤️

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Love this. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Hey Lauren we're so glad you found us! Looking forward to getting to know you too

I am a guy and saw a general question about what tea folks recommend. I love tea and dont think my gender would get in the way of that discussion, but I understand that this is supposed to be a community with just women.

Do you recommend I stay out of discussions like that? There really isn't anyone talking about tea on Lemmy and I yearn for it.

No worries either way.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You can come to [email protected] or [email protected] where i have personally made a post about tea.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Thanks I joined!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Hi Pebbles thanks so much for your honesty! It's really appreciated. We are women only so you can't participate. I'd suggest starting a thread on tea in [email protected] or [email protected] you'll get lots of replies there.

Np have a good weekend

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I know it says men can’t post, but does that include comments?

If we can’t comment either perhaps it would be cool for post makers to add a tag if they want male input or not.

Either way cool space and wish you all a nice time.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Thanks that's a really interesting idea! We are women only throughout including comments so please dont comment again. And hope you have a nice time too 😊

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hi! Non-woman enby here so this will be my only comment. Glad to see a community for women, you have my (quiet) support. Two questions which I couldn't answer myself, if you could:

  1. Oht of respect for the woman's space, would you prefer non-women not read your posts if they come up on /All?

  2. Similarly - would you prefer no crossposts to other communities?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry mate just got this. It's so respectful of you to ask these questions! I really appreciate it. You're welcome to read and we realle value support with upvotes. Sharing probably isn't best because the incels pile on when they see our name, so you'll probably get a lot of shit for it. But we love the fact that you're quietly cheering us on ❤️
