I’m Romanian and I recently came across the definition of bangmaid which fits me perfectly, so that’s how my username came to be.

Tenno, dream not of what you are. But of what everyone else is, in a very contrarian way.

I was really into warframe when I made this account, hehe. I might pick it up again soon, who knows. But it's more fun to catch up than stay current, so it may be a while.

A dilbert cartoon from the mid 90s. Long before Scott Adams revealed his complete asshattery.

Taffer is a curse word in the Thief video games which I grew up on. I don't even like laffy taffy that much.

Narcissus poeticus, or poet's daffodils are called 'nargis' (nuh-ruh-giiis) in a a number of languages. The root word is Persian. It is often used in poetry as a metaphor for a person's eyes (generally your girlfriend) as it is supposed to be 'eye shaped'. There is, of course, the Greek myth which is often alluded to in English literature. It's also a pretty flower.

There was an episode of The Girls Next Door in the early 00s where they go to the Renaissance Faire and they had someone teaching them words from that era and one of them was Sausage Wallet and it cracked me up back then and still does to this day.

API fiasco at Reddit. Spez called mods “landed gentry” basically signaling how much disdain they not only have for their users but the people who make their site possible. Decided I had too much self respect to mod there for even one more day. Fuck that shit hole site, glad to be done with it

My name's initials (NW) and a Chinese slang (西北風).

西北風 means north-west wind (translated by character, "west north wind"). Other than its meaning in weather, people would often use "eat north-west wind" (食西北風, Cantonese) or "drink north-west wind" (喝西北風, Mandarin) to mean running out of business.

I have been using this name ever since I learnt that diagonal compass directions in Chinese and English are flipped, like "west north" becomes "north-west" here.

Epicureanism rejects immortality. It believes in the soul, but suggests that the soul is mortal and material, just like the body. Epicurus rejected any possibility of an afterlife, while still contending that one need not fear death: "Death is nothing to us; for that which is dissolved, is without sensation, and that which lacks sensation is nothing to us." From this doctrine arose the Epicurean Epitaph: Non fui, fui, non sum, non curo ("I was not; I have been; I am not; I do not mind."), which is inscribed on the gravestones of his followers and seen on many ancient gravestones of the Roman Empire.

I felt it was not immediately obvious that 314159 is a prime number, and wanted to remind people. It's also a twin prime, but as the good twin... I try not to bring up 314161, unless there's a compelling reason.
