Did bumper cars slightly buzzed, would recommend. Especially if you hit that magical non line moment and they just let you go longer.

Oh God, imagine if they actually made a dedicated like and subscribe button for keyboards, like how Microsoft got the Windows key on there.

Off topic and not a criticism of this meme, op or anyone who likes this, but this is a great illustration if why right wing politics is on the rise with younger people.

Being a piece of shit is kind of just funny. Like people don't really make memes or sarcastically talk about being a good person, as it's just not funny.

And while this is obviously not serious and probably won't start a trend of people actually drunk driving, that IS how a lot of shitty modern trends start, with people doing it sarcastically for the meme, then someone else takes it bit more seriously to take the joke further and someone else takes it even further, until people are actual serious racists or misogynists for the meme.

People like to make fun of this idea that "the right can't meme," but I'd agree with you and argue they're actually really fucking good at it.

I think it's a real shame that progressives basically ceded the tools of shock and profanity to people on the far right. Maybe it's because I was a huge fan of the Colbert Report growing up, but I feel like satire is a great way to deconstruct far right positions by showing their logical conclusions. The problem is that you can't really satirize a racist anymore; you'll get called a racist yourself and be canceled.

I was on 4chan back in '06-'10 or so. Back when it was more people circle jerking about being right wing or blaming things on jews for the bit, to be edge lords. But that's the thing about doing that - when you do it soon becomes impossible to distinguish the people doing it for laughs and the people who genuinely believe it. And eventually the people doing it for laughs leave, and all that's left is people who believe it.

I was just there for memes, porn, and trolling. Calling a specific GameStop and repeatedly asking for battletoads in a thousand ways will always be funny to me. But eventually the shift becomes too great.

4chan has always been an ocean of piss, but it wasn't always this concentrated.

At the same time, strong-manning a ridiculous opinion (like drunk driving is good) is a good way to show how ridiculous the typical rationalizations are.

I think i get the point you're making

"It's kind of getting communist when a feller can't even put in a hard days' work, put in 11, 12 hours a day, and then get in your truck and at least drink 1 or 2 beers."

-People in the 1980s upset that they were trying to make it illegal to drive with a .15 BAC (which was the previous limit).

Shit, I have a hard time driving after one beer. Driving is just fucking boring and my sobriety affords me the clarity of mind to not space out completely. 4-8 beers for a .15? How’re you expecting to stay on the road?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 days ago

Practice!

Gotta drink more so you can drink more. Then you'll find your groove and see that a few beers is just the spice driving needed!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How on earth do you do boring stuff WITHOUT being drunk

Fair enough

A very long time ago I was a stupid young man. I got a little drunk and ended up putting my friend into a coma for a week (on snowmobiles). That was the last drop I ever drank. It's been over 25 years, but I will never forget how invincible I felt, and how foolish that feeling feels every time I think back on it. Don't mess around with this shit. Like ever.

Incredibly based! Never drive drunk.

Out of curiously, how did that happen? I, as a young man, personally decided to never drunk drive after snomobliling drunk on a lake and later realizing how dangerous it is to go 80+ when there's islands.

Long story. But basically I took a few of my friend's friends out on rented snowmobiles at night and we all shared a bottle of jägermeister. My friend was a 30 year old mother of two with a husband in jail for violating a restraining order she had on him. Her two friend had recently had a threesome with her. (I chose not to have sex with her months before despite her throwing herself at my 18 yo self). This resulted in them getting into an argument, and I decided we should all leave. On the way back, mistakes were made (the two stopped suddenly in the middle of the trail to argue and I overcorrected to avoid them) and she fell off and hit her head. The two dicks sped off leaving me alone in the woods with an unconscious woman, who's brain resorted to animalistic screams and flailing arms, holding her head/neck at an angle so she didn't stop breathing. Some time later we were found, then the cops and paramedics arrived. I was sober by then, so didn't go to jail. But she got life flighted half a state away and spent a month in the hospital.

I sort of changed my life after this. I don't really think of this as the moment it all changed. Rather it is other events (finding a belief in God and wanting to become a better person as a result) that precipitated those changes. But truth be told, I probably would have continued to go downhill if not for this incident. Typing that all out made me realize just how messed up my life was back then.

Sorry mate, I gave up driving years ago.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago

Then what's the point of drinking?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Hey buddy, I believe in you! You can get back on the horse, it's just like riding a bike! (Either could net you a DUI in some of The States)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This one is definitely getting Poes Law'd.
