I'd argue the former pope was also more progressive than the current us gov.
I had to do a double take when someone said Vance is Catholic. He's a perfect evangelical, they love him, my evangelical culty parents love him so much it's gross, he does not seem Catholic.
The last time I remember having the same opinion as the pope was in 2003 against Bush Jr.'s war. If anyone will ever get me to become a catholic, I'm pretty sure it will be a US president.
Mr Vance, have you said 'Thank You?' even once, for the personal spiritual guidance afforded to you by the Holy Pontiff?

It's really not. The name Leo is associated with workers rights and human dignity, the guy has been directly calling out Vance and Trump, and the guy has strong ties to south America and was Francis's right hand man
