This story seems to have faded in the wake of events ad nauseam. We are all aware of Senor Luigi. However, most folks can’t recall the full name of the guy that allegedly Luigi gunned down. Mission accomplished.

It is impressive how scared the wealthy elite are of this man and what he did.

He must be aquitted so they finally understand they're not untouchable. Someone might kill them for the shit they pull.

Still the only one in the US with balls it seems.
The rest is still busy with interpretative dance, making placards to carry around while having a stroll and determined to vote harder next time.

No need, I don't live in the banana republic.

Thanks for contributing substance to the conversation.

That's the guy responsible for fixing most of the bugs in civ VI. And there is evidence he did that.

He's also been baselessly accused of shooting some twat. So the federal prosecution is waiting for people to forget about him so they can drag him through a kangaroo court and murder him for political reasons.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I'd have thought they'd want him dead for all to see. See what happens when you touch an untouchable.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 hours ago

It's the sort of thing that could spark a full blown revolution though. Capitalists aren't known for their love of change.

I think the guy he allegedly killed, had a name that started with.... I think it was a d? David? Derek? Dddddouchebag. Douchebag, yeah. I think the person that died was a massive douchebag.

That seems right to me ....

[–] [email protected] 27 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Luigi didn't do it though. He's being set up by the prosecution.

[–] MystikIncarnate 5 points 15 hours ago

I know, I was certainly spending time with him during the alleged attack. He couldn't have done it while sat across from me at that diner, many miles away from where the crime happened.

I think the guy he killed

Allegedly 😉

[–] [email protected] 5 points 14 hours ago

Downvoted only for the winky face. I earnestly believe the guy is innocent and unrelated

He's the future highest profile instance of jury nulification.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

I think his name was Scumbag McFuckhead or something like that.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 15 hours ago

I think it was something like that. Or probably very similar.🙌

[–] [email protected] 39 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Takes a while to get a jury together. The legal system is very slow, even in easy cases; and trying to find an unbiased jury makes it even harder.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (2 children)

they will go through a ton of jurors before they will seat one. they needs one dumb enough to be swayed easily by either side. both the defendant and prosecutors are only limited to amount of jurors that strike from a group during jury summons, so they are looking at biases for him and remove them. what they really want is the ones that dont read the news much, or retireers.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 15 hours ago

This must be a taxing and mentally draining process for all the grown ups in the room.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 15 hours ago

retirees? like the ones that spend half their time in a hospital room? paying 300$ for bandaids?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

There will be no truly unbiased jury, this is way too public and polarizing

Fucking CB radio featured Luigi and that's an impenetrable subculture

[–] [email protected] 6 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

CB radio - like “breaker breaker 1 9”?

He prolly didn't even do it but who ever did do it, did the right thing

[–] [email protected] 14 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I’ve been saying the entire time they have the wrong guy.

[–] MystikIncarnate 7 points 15 hours ago

Especially since I was hanging out with Luigi all evening and into the morning, during the time he allegedly was killing some guy.

Clearly he couldn't have done it, we were hanging out.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I still don’t think it’s even Luigi that did it. Looks nothing like the guy from the video

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Im not even sure I trust that video. It has artifacts that make it look doctored to me.

Classic oligarchs, pinning their crimes on the underprivileged...

Rich white males from prestigious families? Hang on, wait a minute.

Nothing's happened, that's why. His next court date is:

Tuesday, 9/16, 9 a.m.: People v. Mangione (NY State), 100 Centre Street, Part 32, New York, NY 10013

[–] MangioneDontMiss 5 points 13 hours ago

Wealthy* People v. Mangione

FTFY

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 day ago (1 children)

lol “people vs mangione” more like people & mangione vs the corrupt & evil

[–] [email protected] 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

magione's people vs STATE OF NEW YORK

[–] MystikIncarnate 5 points 15 hours ago

Law enforcement vs Mangione.

The people want him freed. 🖕

[–] [email protected] 64 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I know it's just how the courts work but how can it be the people vs him when the people seem to support him. The state vs maybe.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 21 hours ago

because alleged criminals are prosecuted by the State on behalf of the People. Public opinion doesn't really factor into it.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

People on Lemmy, sure. But talk to your boomer neighbors and they’ll all say he’s a terrorist.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 16 hours ago

they all got redirected by the MSMs. there is big support him on other social media, but onl boomers and Xers watch cnn and fox, so they are against him.

[–] [email protected] 71 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I don't watch mainstream media, but Status Coup News does follow his case and updates when something happens.

From what I understand, lawyers found a major issue with how he was apprehended. Apparently he wasn't read his rights before they started taking action, so a fair bit of evidence they have against him may need to be thrown out.

Also they decided to pursue the death penalty way too fast, among other injustices.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Are you able to extrapolate a little more, that sounds interesting

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 hours ago

There is a general lack of body-cam footage to back up the cops follwing procedures and the timing of evidence being collected is suspect at best.

Overall, there are enough holes in the narrative that was reported to the media that luigi being a scapegoat is not an unreasonable stance.

Issues with the way he was apprehended? I am just shocked.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 14 hours ago

I believe this too.
